Republican Travis Allen Enters California Governor’s Race

On Thursday, Assemblyman Travis Allen (R-Huntington Beach) officially became the sixth candidate — and second Republican — to announce his candidacy for California’s 2018 Democrat-heavy gubernatorial race. Allen accompanied his surprise announcement with an a video ad titled, “Take Back California“:

“I’ve seen our taxes increased to be among the highest in the nation, I’ve seen crime increase in every major metropolitan area, and I’ve seen an expansion of the government bureaucracy at the expense of hard-working Californians and their businesses,” Allen saays in the ad.

“I am running for Governor to make California once again the greatest state in the country, and a place where we all can live our lives, run a business, and raise a family,” Allen said in a press release announcing his gubernatorial bid.

Yes, you can be sure the GOP won’t win if they don’t try. The party has to start doing what it can to build itself back up in that state. There are simply too many EVs that they are simply surrendering to the Democrats without even trying. It won’t change overnight, but they need a plan and they need to stick to it.

I wish him well but given that California’s primary is now set so that the top 2 vote getters go on to the general, I’m afraid that next year’s race will be like last year’s Senate race - 2 Dems.

Schwarzenegger! Only a RINO could be elected in California. Democrats only keep the Republicans around to kick them to the curb every election cycle. Next Governor will be a Teacher’s Union selection. My guess a Latino. Only a miracle would kick out the entrenched Democrats—I don’t think the GOP has the guts anymore to do the job. Still, anything can happen.
