When reporters asked him if he felt that the bill had “heart,” Trump replied, “A little negotiation, but it’s going to be very good.”
Trump made his remarks after meeting at the White House with technology CEOs about drones and automation.
“Obamacare is dead and we’re putting a plan out today that is going to be negotiated,” Trump said.
He suggested it was difficult to work on a bill, as Democrats remained entirely opposed to it.
“We’d love to have some Democrats’ support, but they’re obstructionists,” he said.

That is Republican PR spin.
Existing policies should only exist if they are supported by the companies underwriters. That is, theoretically the companies should make money off them. Any other system, even if government backed, won’t work.
Selling insurance across state lines is problematic, for the sole reason that states are the primary regulators of insurance. Cross a state line and you double the regulation.

I wish Trump would understand it isn’t the role of the federal government to replace Obamacare with a similar “plan”.
Somehow he seems impervious to the importance of the free market in this 15% of our economy, and instead seems to want to prove his healthcare Santa Claus bona fides.
For starters, this 60 vote mantra is garbage. If they wanted to repeal ACA they easily could with a simple majority.
No, this is bad enough for the same slide to socialized medicine to occur as with the continuance of Obamacare—except it’ll have the Pubbies’ name on it as another failed GOP promise.
First they said they needed the House and Senate. Then they said they needed the presidency.
They have more then enough votes to pass the same repeal bill they passed all the times they knew Obama wouldn’t sign it.

The RINO leadership should knock them into line—but the RINO leadership is trying to sink Trump.
Probably could do that in the house but you are likely to make Snowe and a couple other senators defect and end up with less than nothing.

Rand Paul is right. The Senate bill is Obamacare Lite.
I like Trump, I voted for him, but this bill is a disaster. The Senate bill is basically the same as Obozocare without the taxes to pay for it. The House bill is marginally better.
I don’t see anything in these bills that is going to solve the problems most people have with bozocare as it is now. Individual policies will be less affordable than ever for the people most interested in them. And when this new system collapses, Trump and the GOP will get the blame, not the dems. It’s a trap.
And where is the provision for buying across state lines?

Not even that. The only difference is how it's funded: ObamaCare was funded by taxes; this bill eliminates the taxes, and funds itself through deficit spending.
Aside from that, I see nothing that will reduce my premiums, reduce my *astronomical* deduction and annual out-of-pocket maximum, or expand the number of providers I can choose from.
I don’t want to say “nonsense” to your post. I am sure you are correct about regulation being the problem. However, much commerce takes place across state lines without restrictive regulation. So why not health insurance?
Or, you could repeal the ACA taxes and mandate, which is half the battle, give Trump a big tax win afterwards as well as regulatory reform, and then do a full repeal after picking up more seats with the house and senate in 2018 after the economy roars. Honestly, pre aca wasn’t a lot better. Healthcare costs were already 15% of GDP and rising rapidly and the government was already spending 40% of healthcare spend in the US (up to 50% now).

The last thing President Trump wants is some crappy Obamacare replacement law that he'll get blamed for. This will be one if his signature pieces of legislation, part of his eventual legacy, and he always wants to enhance the profile of his brand. He always wants to win.
You're staying true to form by indulging your usual Trump-bashing impulses. If you think the President wants anything other than a law which will help Americans, you're dead wrong.
It's just ludicrous to make the presumption that President Trump wants to just "go along to get along". He's just not that way, and his entire life demostrates that—including his time thus far in the White House...
