Despite his tweet in the aftermath of James Comey's dismissal in May, President Donald Trump did not make and does not have tapes of his conversations with the former FBI director, he tweeted Thursday.
"With all of the recently reported electronic surveillance, intercepts, unmasking and illegal leaking of information, I have no idea whether there are 'tapes' or recordings of my conversations with James Comey, but I did not make, and do not have, any such recordings," wrote Trump in a series of tweets.

It was always clear what he meant, and the media was purposely mis-representing it.
He was commenting on how people always seemed to leak details of private conversations, so Trump was snarking that maybe someone had illegally taped HIS conversations and would leak them.

The initial ‘there may be tapes’ served two purposes, keep Comey from lieing to the public and giving creedance to deep State wiretapping. Therefore, Comey stated he leaked because of possible tapes (which made no sense). Had Comey been an honest individual, the tweet wouldn’t have prompted him to leak or to fear possible tapes. Exposed!
And for Trump to answer the ‘tape’ question on the same day the MSM desperately wants to disparage health care is also brilliant. They can’t cover both nonstop. #A$$CLOWNS

Yes Trump seems to imply Comey or someone else perhaps taped the conversations, but it wasn’t Trump.
He’s playing psych ops with Comey & the media.

Of course, if they actually exist they are only memos - memos written by someone who was admittedly hostile to President Trump. If these memos exist they are only of value as prompts for Comey’s remembrance of his meetings with the president (and as fuel for hysterical allegations made by Democrats and the media against Trump).
People are still requesting to see the memos.
Like this is going to settle the matter. The Democrats will be pushing for the tapes anyway and Trump will be trying to prove that something that didn't happen, didn't happen. Social media comes back to bite him.

Too funny. Trump never SAID there were tapes. He said Comey better HOPE there were no tapes.

The memos are meaningless without Comey’s sworn testimony that: (1) they were prepared on the dates shown on them, and (2) they were not altered in any way after those dates. Ten bucks says he would never testify to this effect.
How do you infer that?

Now I’m waiting for Comey make a stupid statement like, “I was alone with Donald Trump on Feb 2 and he threatened my family’s lives if I investigated him!”
At which point I would not be surprised if President Trump suddenly found tapes of the Feb 2 meeting at which they discussed golf and favorite TV shows.

This could be an example of him getting the Dems and MSM all worked up over nothing, maybe as a joke.
Dems are reading books on WaterGate dreaming of a repeat and then Trump tweets this about 'tapes', when that's what did Nixon in, and then they talk endlessly about the Trump tapes.
