Meanwhile, FBI officials said leftist gunman James Hodgkinson had more than 200 rounds of ammunition at a local storage unit when he attacked Republican lawmakers as they practiced for the annual Congressional baseball game.
Timothy Slater, special agent in charge of the FBI Washington field office, said Hodgkinson, 66, had rented a storage unit in Alexandria started April 16, which he visited more than 43 times between April and June.
Also, Hodgkinson visited the office of Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., in mid-April and emailed Senators Tammy Duckworth and Dick Durbin, D-Ill., sometime between January 2017 and the shooting last week, the FBI said without elaborating.

That’s a couple of boxes. Most shooters I know (and probably most on this board) buy more than that when they know they are going to the range the next day.

It is NOT illegal to own lots of ammunition.

Stop focusing on the weapons and start focusing on PEOPLE.
Rifle ammo is most commonly packaged 20 rounds to a box. Pistol ammo is most commonly packaged 50 to a box. .22LR ammo is most commonly packaged 50 to a box, or 500 to a ‘brick.’
10 boxes of rifle ammunition, 4 boxes of pistol ammunition, 2 ‘bricks’ of .22LR, or a combination thereof.

Sounds like someone is trying to make something bigger a deal than it is with the storage locker language. Two hundred rounds would account for ten little tiny boxes of 7.62 X 39 ammo.
I can keep that, and more in a little shoebox. (320 rds.)
