Congressman to push bill that lets lawmakers carry guns

WASHINGTON — A Republican congressman who survived the horrific baseball shooting will offer legislation this week to allow lawmakers to carry guns throughout the nation’s capital.

“I’m going to be introducing legislation this week … to allow congressmen to carry a sidearm, should they so desire,” Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) told Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.”

Members of Congress are “high-profile targets, but we have absolutely no way to defend ourselves because of Washington, DC’s rather restrictive gun laws.”

I guess the 2nd Amendment takes care of ol’ Mo’s wish to be armed. It does apply to all American citizens, doesn’t it?

(Is that redundant because all judges are lawyers)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All judges do not have to be lawyers, not even U.S. Supreme Court Judges.
Every USSC Justice back to John Jay and company has been a lawyer. Quite a few have not been lower court judges.
Today, the American Bar Association has virtual veto power over all judicial appointments, probably at the state as well as federal level.
"...there, fixed it..."
Excellent "correction" post you made there, Envisioning.
Did good ol' Mo Brooks (R-Alabama) even vaguely listen to those words as they came out of his mouth?
Good grief, we have majorities everywhere, the governorships of many states, the POTUS, and yet still NOTHING gets accomplished in this era of attacks by unhinged leftwinger crackpots and crazed Muslim terrorists.
Rep. Mo Brooks can take his Special laws for Special people and stuff them up his Special backside.
Duelling pistols is all these sick ba$tards deserve.....and I would require they use them.
EVERY patriotic American is a high value/profile target, their lives actually matter and they matter far more to me than ANY politician.
So Mr. Brooks, when I see you caring more about the everyday forgotten man, woman and child, I might listen to your pompous a$$ ideas, but until then, you and your Special people should learn to duck and run.
I would rather see 10,000 politicians drop and bleed than a single hair on my brides head harmed.
I am completely fed up with self-serving politicians.
I’d bet that 90 % if the Republicans would vote for. The Democrats wouldn’t. Shows too much hypocracy. PLUS, most of them already carry. And DC police look the other way.
"...Special Laws for Special People..."
One would think after experiencing what he experienced he would recognize that can happen to ANYONE out there.
That leftwinger shytbird Hodgkinson might have gotten the wrong address and been shooting at random people playing ball that have nothing to do with government.
Mo Brooks (R-Alabama) should stop and contemplate that for a few minutes. Dang, he is tossing aside any goodwill he had with me.
I agree. These idiots already have a solution to their problem in National CCW reciprocity but they would rather do this just because they are self serving, entitled morons.
I doubt that they need laws to carry. Laws are for people like you and me. They excused themselves from 0bamacare, why would they think they have to obey laws pertaining to carrying firearms?
-—What about the peasants?-—
As I understand it, we the “peasants” are supposed to be the overlords!
Congress doesn’t give a damn about the peasants. If Congress cared about the peasants, they would stop trying , and passing laws to disarm the law abiding peasants and render them helpless. The only concern[s] that Congress has concerning peasants is that enough of them stay alive to work and pay taxes to support them in the manner that they are accustomed.
Bu11$h!t. Pass National Reciprocity and the problem is solved - for EVERYBODY.
That probably has about as much chance as nationwide Constitutional carry does. That would eliminate any reciprocity need.
this is like gas rationing in ww ii. congress critters all applied for “special exemptions”. once it became public they backed off.
I say let them have national reciprocity. THEN start the argument that EVERYONE should have the same right.
I believe that Mo Brooks, citizen, should be able to carry a weapon for self defense in our nation’s capitol without fear of arrest...
...just as any other Tom, Dick or Harry, or their female counterparts, should be allowed to do - under the Constitution.
However, to distinguish between elected officials and citizens is an affront to the Republic and to all citizens.
NO! to this bill - but YES! to a full-on reciprocity bill for all citizens with a carry license.
