'Full Measure': Quitting Congress
WJLA - ABC News ^ | 18 June 2017 | Sharyl Attkisson

Posted on 06/19/2017 1:43:28 AM PDT by blueplum

....After eight-and-a-half years on an upward trajectory in Washington, D.C., Chaffetz of Utah has suddenly and quite unexpectedly pulled himself out of the game.

Attkisson: "Some people might think this is a great time to be a Republican chairman of an important committee because Republicans control the House, they're the majority in the Senate, and they hold the president's office. That means, you would think, that federal agencies can't stonewall investigations of spending, waste, fraud and abuse."

Chaffetz: "The reality is, sadly, I don't see much difference between the Trump administration and the Obama administration. I thought there would be this, these floodgates would open up with all the documents we wanted from the Department of State, the Department of Justice, the Pentagon. In many ways, it's almost worse because we're getting nothing, and that's terribly frustrating and, with all due respect , the attorney general has not changed at all. I find him to be worse than what I saw with Loretta Lynch in terms of releasing documents and making things available. I just, that's my experience, and that's not what I expected."

Can’t get a Trillion in Stimulus aka union bailout.. Can’t get amnesty so dreamers can rest easy.. with guys like Chaffez.
Trump has stood in the shadow of the bully pulpit and you have to ask why. Deep down we all know the answer. Any NYer who inks an arms deal with Saudi A.. has forgotten 9/11.
At least obama had the guts to stand up and lay out his veto power for the budget.. Trump, silent. Guess we aren’t getting a wall.. unless the dreamers are inside.. or maybe we. Aren’t getting one at all.

Unfortunately most contemporary CEOs see running a company as a political venture ...

I saw an interesting piece last week about that very subject. It turns out that the Senate confirmation process isn't really the roadblock for most of those nominees.

According to the article posted here, there are actually very few nominees awaiting Senate confirmation. The real problem is that the U.S. Justice Department and other executive branch agencies have been very slow in conducting background checks. This came up because the U.S. does not have an ambassador to Great Britain right now. Robert Wood Johnson IV was named to this post back in March, but he has never been confirmed and technically isn't really a "nominee" yet because he hasn't cleared the background check process yet. A candidate for one of these posts requiring Senate confirmation isn't officially a "nominee" until this process is completed.

All one need to do is watch the hearings during the Obama administration to realize the bureaucracy is in charge. The Deep State mocks the politicians. Disgusting.

Trump has been president for five months tomorrow. Chaffetz hasn’t seen anything that makes Trump better than Obama. That is some pretty deep horse “stuff” right there. Trump has done many things, yet Chaffetz is not aware of any of it. Nope, Trump is no better than Obama. And some folks even here read his message, and buy into it hook line and sinker. Good freakin grief folks.

Our President should authorize the release of whatever dirt is really behind this con-gressmans departure. I smell Chavitz (sic) everywhere.

I’m with you on this one. Chaffetz was chaffing long long ago. It was months ago he decided to resign his house seat. He has basically been a Trump denier for ever. Considering how long it took for us, the US to get in this situation, you would think Jason would have a bit more patience. Hopefully his replacement will be someone more friendly to the present administration.

You may be missing the point. He admits that Trump and his guys would be pulling their hair out. But it seems the globalist oligarchy OWNS congress and Pres Trump can’t move past it.

It seems the only way to make a dent in anything in DC is to do what the globalist leftists WANT.

The Congress as a whole is bought. Useless to the people who are supposed to control our own government. It’s not good.

Two topics here. I don’t really know nor care the Chaffetz motivation.

But WHY the Trump administration is so slow to act is mystifying to a vast number of non-FReepers who want the swamp drained.

There is something paralyzing about congress. It may be the deepest part of the swamp.

Chaffetz was not talking about the overall progress the administration has made. He is talking about within the bureaucracy and like many of us can’t figure out why it has not changed. The State Dept and AG office has new people put in by Trump yet nothing has changed. That’s what he’s saying.

Chaffetz: “I think if we went to the senior-most people, even the president himself, they would be pulling their hair out and they would hate to hear that but within the bowels of the organization, they just seem to circle the wagons and think, ‘Oh we can just wait you out. We can just wait you out.’”

Chaffetz hasn’t seen anything that makes Trump better than Obama.

To be fair I think he was talking n context of getting records from Justice, saying Sessions has produced nothing they hadn't already seen. Hardly the same as criticizing Trump.

Well that could explain the lack of progress on any of those issues, are you saying he is just whining and that what he is saying is not true?

I am choosing to think that Sessions is just a little naive as opposed to being a deep stater but if this keeps up, one could begin to question that.

Look up Judge Jeanine's Sunday opening monologue you can get most of m position from her comments.

There is no stronger Patriot or Trump supporter than me but I have every right to call his good friends out when they seem intent on destroying him. Immigration is a big deal whether you like it or not, it is not a can to be kicked down the road again, we had enough of that from GW to last a life time.

It’s taking longer to get Trump’s people in place because they are being fought tooth and nail by the dimocrats.

The House has nothing to do with that. But Ryan has everything to do with all the investigatory committees he has running in the House.

I will say that Chaffetz' problem is not Trump so much, but a Congress of Republicans who have been bullied into submission and will not do the people's work because they are afraid of the left/media.

Who knew Congress could order Sessions to not release subpoenaed records.

This is one of the major mysteries of the Trump Administration.

They tried to impeach him before Trump took office Ryan refused to bring it up.
