During Friday’s Weekly Address, President Trump touted the Apprenticeship Initiative executive order and said, “Today, this is the message I want every young American to hear: there is dignity in every honest job, and there is nobility in every honest worker.”

Transcript as Follows:

On Thursday, I signed an Executive Order to launch a groundbreaking new Apprenticeship Initiative that will help young Americans learn the skills they need to find a rewarding career, earn a great living, and support themselves and their families.

We are celebrating the dignity of work and the greatness of the American Worker.

American citizens have worked every job, every occupation, no matter what it might be – no matter how grueling, how challenging, or even how dangerous. They wash the windows on our tallest skyscrapers; they create works of art from burning fire and molten steel; they mine the earth and dive the ocean depths to bring energy into our cities and towns; they care for the sick, the elderly, and the wounded; and they lay the bricks, mortar, rebar, and concrete that give us places to live, to work, and to thrive.

Today, this is the message I want every young American to hear: there is dignity in every honest job, and there is nobility in every honest worker.

But, but the talking classes tell me that university is where it’s at, with queer studies and rap music history and combating white male oppression.

I realize folks LOVE their athletics in schools, but millions upon millions are pumped into these programs where few ever make it a career.

Schools should prepare students for life after school. College is not for everyone, nor can everyone afford it. Job skills are what is important. Electricians, Mechanics, Welders, plumbers...and the rest.

In our area, they put these multimillion dollar bond proposals on the ballot for schools. Then these bozos take these millions and build elaborate high school sports complexes. Torques me.

My youngest graduated this year/ He’s headed for the skilled trades. Several of his friends are too. My wife was talking with a friend yesterday who’s son is doing the same.

I can’t be more proud of them, or of our President for recognizing the value and the worth of work, at any level.

1961 - Right after High School (age 17 1/2) and knowing little about the job market (except for working in a Super Market), I found a course offered by IBM. It might have even been free.

It was about punch cards and sorting and a tad on programming. I remember working with a key pad and sorting thousands of cards at top speed. I was impressed.

I went to two job interviews after that...the first at Shuron Optical where I was offered a job as a programmer. The second was at Gleason Works in the shop records department. I went to Gleasons for 10 cents more an hour.

Ah....what might have been...Who knew...

So there is always stuff available...ya just have to get your butt in gear. And it still comes down to education and willingness to take on some responsibility.

Hear hear! I second that. It was the HARD workin men and woman of this country that made it what it was...I say was, cause we are rapidly losing it.

Good for your progeny and good on you for rearin a great stock.

Apprenticeship Initiative that will help young Americans learn the skills

My father came to the US in the late 20s from Germany. He had been an apprentice cabinet maker.

For the rest of his days, he could do stuff with wood. I built houses with him. He showed me how to sharpen tools. He knew how to use a square to cut the angles for stairs and rafters. What he left behind is what he made with his hands.

I value this Apprenticeship Initiative as a way into a skill that might make the difference.

I loved it. One of the best ever. Especially as opposed to ‘you didn’t build that’

Fantastic. When I left high school, there were a lot of entry level manufacturing jobs to enable one to move up the food chain. Learning a trade, then apprenticing with one or more old school masters of that craft is still a great path to success.

I certainly wouldn’t be above shoveling manure, to start, if it could mean being promoted within a company as I proved my worth and capability. In my view, it should be almost risk free for companies to find good people at the bottom and help them rise as they became skilled.

Keep pushing the agenda. That helps most

Sorry Paco Sanchez already has the job and he is a career mierda shoveler. Paco gets food stamps, EIC, education for his anchor spawn and free medical to subsidize his existence.

I finished constructing my new home about 2 years ago. The HVAC contractor was a local man, been in business 20+ years, and focused on high-end new construction and he worked with about 10-15 general contractors.
He had about 20 trucks and 30 employees......all the duct work and the dehumidifier installation on my place was completed by his two 30-something DAUGHTERS....

I also know that he sold the business last year for around 10 million $$.

Good paying careers without crippling student loans - while getting a paycheck as they learn the skill/trade and then hitting the ground running, with a good paycheck. (all without government overseers and propaganda)

It’s called FREEDOM

The cretin elites look down on the Non-college people - who build the buildings they live in, who provide for their every need in life: food, housing, clothing, transportation, etc. EVERYTHING.

What do these elites build or produce?

Time for a massive John Galt withdrawal.
