Comey firing to be investigated by Senate panel, new report says

The Senate Judiciary Committee is planning on opening an investigation into the events surrounding President Donald Trump’s firing of former FBI Director James Comey, The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.

The investigation could potentially examine whether the president interfered in the ongoing Russia investigation by moving to fire Comey.

“The Judiciary Committee has an obligation to fully investigate any alleged improper partisan interference in law enforcement investigations,” Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, said in a letter announcing the move.

“It is my view that fully investigating the facts, circumstances, and rationale for Mr. Comey’s removal will provide us the opportunity to do that on a cooperative, bipartisan basis,” Grassley continued. “The American people deserve a full accounting of attempts to meddle in both our democratic processes and the impartial administration of justice."

The letter was a response to Sen. Diane Feinstein, D-Calif., the senior Democrat on the Judiciary Committee. Feinstein had asked for the committee to complete its own investigation in addition to ones currently ongoing.

The Judiciary Committee has jurisdiction over the FBI and federal law enforcement.

The move follows testimony Comey gave on June 8 to the Senate Intelligence Committee in which he said he thought he was fired because of the Russia probe. “I was fired in some way to change, or the endeavor was to change, the way the Russia investigation was being conducted,” Comey testified. “That is a very big deal, and not just because it involves me.”

A White House spokeswoman didn’t immediately respond to a comment request from the Journal.

This is reminiscent of the crap libs tried to pull on Bush for firing federal attorneys. They all know it is BS but they keep plugging away like the jackals they are. I just wish that the president had the power to fire any government worker he wants.

The Director of the FBI serves at the pleasure of the POTUS. Trump could fire him for nothing more than the color of his socks. First, the libs/RINOS hate Comey but now they love him. Make up their minds.

Yes, and isn’t strange that after that key testimony given by Sessions about the Clinton investigation, its time to ramp up the Russia investigation.

I have always believed Comey was fired for NOT doing the clinton investigation.

they want to make Trump fear draining the swamp. Fear firing people.

which will end in epic failure for the Deep State Rinos, and Dems over the next 8 years.

I can almost guarantee you that every big news story about a Congressional committee investigation comes out on the same day that Congress quietly passes a very important piece of legislation without any media scrutiny. The House passed the Dodd-Frank repeal bill on the day Comey testified. The Senate will probably pass the health care bill when some other major story breaks. I’m seeing a pattern here.

They ought to investigate how Mueller (Comey’s friend) got appointed special prosecutor.

And whether he’s already given Comey immunity and if so why.

It’s so awesome how they take a month off then come back for two weeks and do nothing then take another month off.

These guys are so special.

We’re so lucky to have them!

Maybe they can investigate their own assholes next.

Piling on (I thought this was great, he held it back from Feinstein) To Heinrich:

SESSIONS: You have a lot in that question. Let me say first. Within a week or so, I believe may 3rd, director Comey testified that he believed the handling of the Clinton declination was proper and appropriate and he would do it again.

I know that was a great concern to both of us because it did not -- that represented something that I think most professionals in the Department of Justice would totally agree that the FBI investigative agency does not decide whether to prosecute or decline criminal cases. Pretty breathtaking usurpation of the responsibility of the attorney general. So that's how we felt. That was sort of additional concern that we had heading the FBI someone who boldly asserted the right to continue to make such decisions. That was one of the things we discussed. That was in the memorandum I believe and it was also an important factor for us.

That Rosenstein memo is dynamite. I have to just laugh at the posters here who crap on Rosenstein. I lack the patience to interact with them.

It certainly hasn’t been a good day, I don’t know about anyone else, but I don’t know whether to cry, scream, be angry, and Pray that God will help those hurt, and protect us...

And all I can say is ‘Why’...

SOB. What does he think Loretta Lynch, Obama, Comey, etc., have been doing the past few years?
