WASHINGTON (AP) -- Congress approved long-sought legislation Tuesday to make firing employees easier for the Department of Veterans Affairs, part of an effort urged by President Donald Trump to fix a struggling agency serving millions of veterans.
The House cleared the bill, 368-55, replacing an earlier version that Democrats had criticized as overly unfair to workers. The Senate passed the bipartisan legislation by voice vote last week. It will go to Trump later this week for his signature.
The measure comes after a 2014 scandal at the Phoenix VA medical center, where some veterans died while waiting months for appointments. During the presidential campaign, Trump promised to fire VA employees "who let our veterans down," describing the government's second-largest agency and its more than 350,000 employees as "the most corrupt" and "incompetent."

I thought this was about being unfair to veterans...
just who is suppose to benefit here...
True and true huldah1776— The local VAMC appears to me to be viral in it’s anti-gun—anti- Second Amendment policy. I have been told that unless I agree to “help them” get all the guns out of my house” they can’t do anything for me. I have also been told that unless I work with the Dept. that told me that They cannot help me. They say I have no seizures —but offer no medical evidence such a miracle has happened. Ask my wife if I still have seizures? I swore I would defend Our Constitution and laws made in pursuance thereof. To my knowledge the terms used in the Second Amendment have NOT been amended to deny “people like me” the rights that “palladium of our Liberties—the Second Amendment “ I cannot leave my family defenseless despite what the local VAMC has put in my medical records.
A locally _elected_ sheriff should be the only one who can prevent someone from owning.
No _unelected_ bureaucrat should be able to have such power.
Close down the VA. Give veterans vouchers for private care.
The bureaucrats at the VA are organized crime.
Do you have copies of your medical records? There should be many more veterans under the same pressure to get their defenses. I’m researching now.
I had epilepsy for 15 years. I now keep up with the fast growing branch of biology, Neuroscience. Find out if Cohen Veterans Network is near you yet. It’s free. Freepmail me if you want to chat.
I thought that might work but there are different types of wounds and becoming a specialist in those areas would be beneficial. Otherwise, yes, allow the vet to get the best medical treatment close to him (not always good in the private sector either). The VA can still do other administrative stuff without the unions and without the DOinJ when a staff member commits an illegal act.
