Former FBI, CIA, and Justice Department officials say they are baffled by reports that a fake Russian document affected former FBI Director James Comey's handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server.

CNN reported Friday that Comey knew the document — a memo purporting to show collusion between Loretta Lynch, who was then the attorney general, and the Clinton campaign — was fake. That has raised questions about why he used it as justification to skirt the Department of Justice and hold a press conference last summer in which he skewered Clinton for her "extremely careless" use of a private email server while she was secretary of state and defended the bureau's decision not to recommend charges.

{snip} Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham told CNN on Sunday that Comey "never once told a member of the House or the Senate that he thought the email was fake" and would have been "incredibly incompetent" to act on a document he knew to be fraudulent.

"I can't imagine a scenario where it's OK for the FBI director to jump in the middle of an election based on a fake email generated by the Russians and not tell the Congress," Graham said.

CNN reporting something that appears to paint Comey in a bad light is of significance, tho. They’ve been cheerleading for him since Trump was elected. It will be interesting to watch how Trey handles Comey next week, with these latest curveballs. Maybe Nunes will get in on this one.

There are some real problems with this article. The article calls the document "fake" as "determined by the FBI," linking the latter phrase to an earlier Business Insider piece that says "The FBI determined by August that the document was likely a Russian plant consisting of bad intelligence."

A paragraph later, "the document, which the FBI has now determined to be largely if not entirely fraudulent, reportedly factored into Comey's decision to bypass the DOJ last summer

How is a document "largely if not entirely" fraudulent? It either is or is not, right?

The later document, posted here, cites the earlier article, and drops all qualification, saying the FBI has determined the document is "fake," essentially citing itself.

Boys and Girls, there is a strong downdraft in this rabbit hole. People are muddying the water like an everglade pond filled with alligators in a hurricane.

I'm beginning to think the House IT staffers from Pakistan, the subversion of luckless and clueless Bernie Sanders and the murder of Seth Rich are all tied together, at least in the world of John Podesta.

I think Comey and all the other co-conspirators thought because of the massive voter fraud the democrats have always committed and the 98% assurance from the entire MSM Hillary would win and business would go on as usual.....That's a pretty safe end game for him in that scenario...He knew he didn't have the stones to out the massive corruption he had become a part of and go down in history as part of it so he played the odds....and lost!!!..That's pretty simple to me....

Looks to me like a very clumsy attempt to get ahead of news about a genuine document. There's more than a slight whiff of fear in the repeated use of the (now near cliché) word "fake". And speaking of buzzwords, who are these supposed experts? Experts at what? Is this one of them, an expert at hiring hit men?
