Trump: Time To Go Nuclear In The Senate For Tax Cuts, Healthcare
washingtonexaminer.com ^ | May 30, 2017

President Trump on Tuesday reiterated his call for the Senate to end the legislative filibuster so he could pass his tax reform and healthcare initiatives.

"The U.S. Senate should switch to 51 votes, immediately, and get Healthcare and TAX CUTS approved, fast and easy. Dems would do it, no doubt!" Trump tweeted.

Trump has previously come out in favor of ending the 60-vote threshold to stop debate on a piece of legislation. The 60-vote threshold usually requires a measure of bipartisanship because it's rare that one party holds 60 seats in the upper chamber.

However, Senate Democrats are using that legislative filibuster in order to block most of Trump's agenda. Republicans only hold 52 seats in the Senate, and there are rarely eight Democrats willing to jump across the aisle to vote on a bill that Trump is backing.

If you can guarantee me we'll never have another Barky Ubama or B.J. Clintoon in The White House, I might be more inclined to support this idea.

“Dems would do it, no doubt!”

Exactly.

Trump should contract out the dems to pass the republican agenda.

Hell, he can’t seem to even get 50 Republicans in the senate let alone nuclear. Bunch of damn RINOs.

Running against the Bozo Senate could win him a landslide in 2020.

President Trump hasn’t got 51 votes for health care. Going nuclear isn’t going to change that. And the tax cuts aren’t even on the radar screen right now.

As I understand it, more demonicRAT Senate seats are up than Republican in '18. That might give Republicans an opportunity to gain that 60 seat majority.

Patience, Grasshoppers, patience.

The democrats will nuke the filibuster as soon as they retake the senate. It’s inevitable. The republicans should just get rid of it now.

The side with the most votes wins.
This is a democratic principle.

The Turtle won’t like that. He’ll get that sulky pout and pull back into his shell at this challenge to his lack of leadership. Really, KY? You couldn’t find anyone in the state but this stubborn ass obstructionist to vote for?

Dealmaker Trump: Pick 2-3 issues that individual Democrat Senators can support. Promise to support them in 2018. Stab the traitors IN THE FRONT.

I got to hear Senator Corker the other day, and how Obamacare repeal was dead on arrival, and they were going to rewrite it. What a power hungry ( insert adjective ) full of hubris sorry excuse for someone representing his ( and all of us ) constituents in the Senate. Unless I am mistaken, the Senate was never for re-writing from scratch, modify yes, temper yes, but what makes him so full of himself, he has got Linsey-&-John M.-itis, an ailment of which I am afraid their is no cure.

This ( and he ) is why we need to drain the Swamp. It is time to get rid of the Mansfield Filibuster. At this point it is being used as an Anti-Trump pro the eternal state Uni-Party lifeline. It is time to cut that lifeline. Sadly, I do not see McConnell doing it, he needs to be pushed, he won't jump.

OFFER: Appoint the SCOTUS candidate to replace Ginsberg provided Kennedy retires and gets replaced with a Constitutionalist. Trump has the upper hand.

“If you can guarantee me we’ll never have another Barky Ubama or B.J. Clintoon in The White House”

Just the opposite, WE WILL! Faced with the same member numbers they would have done this on inauguration day.

This is a GOOD idea. Make elections actually MEAN SOMETHING.

In these partisan times we find ourselves in, we MUST ACT NOW!

This is WAR!!!! US against THEM.

“Can’t we all just get along?” As Inspector Clouseau would say “Not anymore”.

Senate victories are for 6 years. Plenty of time to forget and make up for bad votes. The Democrats would take the offer.

The GOP is as resistant to President Trump’s program as the anti-American democrats. None of them shall get my vote!

Reid is like a black man. He does his own thing and doesn’t care what anyone thinks.
