Steve Bannon to head Trump's Russia war room of legal 'A-Team,' street fighters and surrogates
Fox ^ | May 26, 2017 | Christopher Wallace

Steve Bannon is not a lawyer, but the chief White House strategist is poised to become the senior partner in a heavyweight firm of bareknuckle barristers at the center of President Trump's counter-offensive against Russia collusion claims.

Bannon, the former Breitbart executive whose no-holds-barred approach served Trump well in the homestretch of his presidential campaign, headed home from Trump's foreign trip and is reportedly the quarterback of an emerging war room of high-powered lawyers, surrogates and researchers.

Their mission: Respond, rebut and refute bad press and legal issues emanating from the special counsel probe led by former FBI Director Mueller into Russian influence on the 2016 election.

Bannon relishes a good fight.

"Steve is super savvy dealing with the media and dealing with crises," Newsmax CEO Christopher Ruddy told Axios.

While Bannon is poised to oversee the entire operation, the legal team being assembled is an eclectic roster of seasoned streetfighters and well-known litigators.

“A big legal team, even one with people with titanic reputations, can greatly benefit the person represented by that big team,” said former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy. “The Justice Department can throw endless resources at cases, so it makes a difference to be capable of matching them.”

Talks are still underway but Trump is reportedly leaning toward a well-rounded legal team as part of the overall strategy. Only the hiring of Trump’s long-time attorney Marc Kasowitz has been confirmed.

Others believed to be in the mix include a self-described 60s-era hippie close to Democrats, a conservative stalwart who has long known Mueller and former FBI Director Comey, and two corporate “uberlitigators.”

Finalists are reportedly Theodore Olson, Reid Weingarten and Robert Giuffra. Olson would not confirm whether he is being considered for the Trump war room. “I’m not commenting one way or the other on this situation,

Oh, wait. Steve Bannon is still there? Wait, looks like he got a promotion.

Someone might want to tell a certain Freeper who thinks he was out three months ago.

I suggested to BigLeaguePolitics they start a “Days Steve Bannon is Still Strategic Advisor to Donald Trump” clock. They agreed.

Sigh.

How do you know it’s “late?” Did Trump have the right pieces in place? Did congress help him in any way? Were the right legal “i”s dotted and “t”s crossed?

The backseat driving gets annoying. And squelching leaks-—EVEN IF YOU KNOW WHO IT IS-—is tough. Yes, you can fire people, but prosecuting is a whole different animal.

So you fire them, you don’t send a message. You need to prosecute, which takes much longer than “2 months.”

I don’t see it as a positive that our best offensive weapon is now being enlisted to play defense on a fantasy.

Unless he lays waste to the media, Dems, Rinos, and Deep Staters in short order, this takes him away from working on the important things that would get Trump re-elected: tax reform, health care reform, shrinking government, securing the borders, and annihilating ISIS and their ideology.

This is a win for our adversaries - taking our best thinker and putting him on a BS story.

Very powerful hint in this story as to Trump’s leading FBI candidate. See if you can figure it out. Freepmail me.

Close, but you’re still not seeing it. Some, if not most of these leaks, are deliberate. It’s “chaos theory.”

It’s cheese in the maze.

Nope. Bannon was never, ever “in trouble.” And nope, the “battle” or “tension” between Bannon and Jared was way, way overblown. I’m partly suspicious that this was another cheese in the maze effort to occupy the fake news media while Trump does real stuff.
