Psychedelic Mushrooms And LSD Are Among The Safest Recreational Drugs, Survey Finds
HuffPost ^ | 05/25/2017 | Nick Wing

Governments around the world consider mushrooms and LSD to be among the most dangerous illicit substances, but a new survey of drug users suggests that these psychedelics are actually some of the safest.

Recent Interesting medical studies show that mushroom usage supressed central core brain function for long term in as little as one mid level trip dosage. While helpful for those with overactive core brain functionality causing depression it does bring to mind that if one dose can permanently inhibit brain function, what happens to those who abuse psilocybin multiple times.

My personal observation of shroom heads is that while they tend to be colorful personalities, they by no means are functionaly productive members of society. And an odd thing is they are all flaming liberals.

Indeed it is the core brain functions that encompass order and reason over subjective feelings and emotion.

I find it curious that government studies ignore medical ones, but then the government objective is social not health focused. Certainly liberals are a whole lot easier to manipulate. So from a governmental perspective, mushroom usage is beneficial not just benign.

NobleFree,

You must be a user or a proponent of recreational marijuana. Believe me, if members of your family fell prey to this substance, you’d be backing me up 100%. Marijuana is anything but recreational.

>>but does the declared low mushroom risk include the risk of getting the wrong type of mushroom?

Stupid is as Stupid does.

Is the Hoffpo culture, stupid?

A few years ago I attended a “Renaisance Festival” in which one of the “guild” members was handing out Salvia.

Salvia... it's just sage, right?

Good find moovova - thanks for sharing.

Seems to me what Huffpo [and Mr. Guild warlock] is selling is 1968 vintage counter-culture grown on post-modern 2017 vintage bullshyte.

Like nuclear weapons and machine guns, the gummint would prefer that commoners not have access to their private stock, if you know what I mean.

Most Americans are misinformed about the properties and effects of LSD just as they are about that "gateway drug," marijuana.

Why do you think that is, considering the CIA has been at the forefront of mind-control experiments using drugs for over 50 years?

Surely the results of their experiments would be of some use to other agencies (e.g., the DEA, NIH, Labor Department), not to mention the general public. (and don't call me Shirley!)

No, no, no. We’re supposed to believe the anecdotes about the guy who thought he could fly and jumped off a bridge, or the guy who has thought he was an orange for the last 3 decades, rather than actual personal experiences.

The anecdotes of death and ruin (more often than not from people who have never even seen the stuff) are a lot more exciting than, "I tried it a few times in college, laughed my ass off. That was a long time ago. Now I have a normal, productive life, work and pay taxes."

As a young man I kinda sorta accidentally ingested 1.5 hits of LSD about an hour before I had to go to work. I thought it would be like smoking pot: you know, it affects you a minute later and you carry on and muddle through your tasks until it wears off in an hour or so.

Boy was I wrong!

I was a prep cook in a seafood restaurant (the fish Market, San Mateo, CA on Norfolk), and my task that day was to cut an enormous tuna into serving sizes, but as importantly, cut out the part that was to be served as sushi.

Anyway, I kept turning this huge quartered chunk of meat, trying to find the correct side to begin, and I could not find it, so I kept turning it. It was so very glistening and beautiful. It did not speak to me or anything, but it definitely had an opinion about stuff.

Coworker observed me and took my knife away, sending to mop out the walk-in refrigerator, which was a mistake, because the live scallops in there DID speak.

This was right out of high school, 30 years ago, and I have never done anything like that ever again. I will never tell this story to my children.

And what percentage of hallucinogenic users did not use pot?

Let me guess.. ummm zero?

That would tend to indicate to me that pot usage lead to other drug abuse. Social context is a valid issue.

Those who deny pot is a gateway drug also by statistics are shown to be drug users.

Impaired thinking, like ignoring the social side of the equation to deny the dangers of drug usage could be caused by drug usage, buy I personally think it is more likely caused by an over active sense of denial.

Which ain’t just a river in Egypt.

I won’t do it again but don’t regret the many times I did it.

I dropped acid 3 times in my much much younger days. Had amazing fun all 3 times. I swore I would never use it again after being high/tripping for 2 days the last time I used it.

I wouldn’t touch it now for love nor money. Too old for that kind of thing to say the least.

44% of Americans have used marijuana, but only 9.2% have in the past year used any other illicit drug (and almost all of them were misusing prescription drugs). [...] I'm not advocating that anyone use any drug, legal or illegal.

You must be a user or a proponent of recreational marijuana.

I just told you I'm not a proponent. And I haven't used pot, alcohol, or any other drug (OK, caffeine) in over 20 years. I simply value truth over falsehood.

"...Marijuana is anything but recreational...."

I have smoked, and now more recently vaped MJ just about every single day almost for the last 30 years.

I am a productive member of society. I am not a liberal. I am responsible and provide for my family.

With all the real dangers and hard drugs out there today, the phrase "falling victim to MJ" is just plain silly.

That said, I do not want my children or any children to ever try it before they are full adults. I affects brain development in youngsters.

That would tend to indicate to me that pot usage lead to other drug abuse.

The connection is better explained by a common factor such as individuals' opportunities and social or psychological predisposition to use drugs. "Better" because nobody has ever even proposed a mechanism whereby someone not previously inclined to use other drugs becomes so through pot use.

Those who deny pot is a gateway drug also by statistics are shown to be drug users.

Really? Let's see those statistics.
