I went there a few yeas ago. Best foreign trip I ever took. Everything’s great, with the Italian people and food at the top. If you’re flying to Italy, checkout Alitalia to see if they have a genuine “coach plus” class of service. If they do, and if it’s like the ones offered by British Airways, Air France, and Lufthansa, it will provide you with a seat that’s pretty much like a domestic U.S. first class seat, will cost you about 80% more than the standard steerage seat, and be worth every penny of the extra charge. I know, I’ve used the British Airways coach plus service twice.

There is a pic of Clinton with the Pope without the veil but that might have been in DC. I couldn’t find one with Carter in a veil but I didnt look long. The only ones I found of her were not at the Vatican.

Barbara Bush has some kind of doily thing on her head.

Hmm, interesting... I wonder if Wiki has got something wrong once again; the Vatican museum has it as "The Last Judgement."

I’ve sidetracked this thread quote enough. It’s probably the Euro spelling.

No, no, no. You don't pay for salvation. Salvation is Christ's magnificent gift, which is accessed by faith (and faithfulness).

Everyone in Purgatory is already saved, and they know it. What's happening in purgatory is two things required by god's justice: purification and atonement for the temporal effects of sin.

The purification is alluded to in 1 Corinthians 3:15 -- "... he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire."

The atonement aspect is alluded to in Matthew 5:26 -- "... Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing."

Typo. That’s “God’s” justice. Capital “G”.

CNN said they do not hold hands.

But CNN is fake news, so I assume they're constantly clutching each other for dear life ...

You pay for your own salvation?

Why did Christ die?

I think you missed the part where I said, “No, no, no.”

They ARE amazing! Back in 1975 I laid on the floor of the Sistine to photograph God’s and Adam’s hands; didn’t get kicked out, but stood the rest of the time. Would like to see it again, now that it has been cleaned, but at least check out the National Geographic comparison of the before and after.

RE: the photo of our POTUS and the lovely Melania looking at the Pieta: It looks like the plexiglass that has been up protecting the Pieta isn’t there anymore. Did it get removed? Hubby and I have been to St. Peter’s twice since 1996 and both times the plexiglass was up and around protecting the Pieta. There was that crazy Hungarian who had attacked the Pieta with a hammer in 1972, that’s why the plexiglass had been put up.

How are you qualified to atone for your own sins in purgatory?

It looks to me like they are in between the plexiglass and the statue; where us regular people don’t get to go.
