It is not just irresponsible but ludicrous that Congress and the president would ignore the need for comprehensive immigration reform even as government agents round up and deport scores of the undocumented who deserve an avenue to legal residency in this country.
In a special report titled The Undocumented, staff writer Luis Ferré Sadurni shared stories of immigrants who entered the country illegally or overstayed their visas and are now living in fear that any day might bring their arrest by the Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
These are men and women living otherwise law-abiding lives and making positive contributions to their communities. Arresting them and sending them back to their homelands would needlessly break up families and, despite all the hot rhetoric to the contrary, would do little to nothing to make America safer or more prosperous.
With an estimated 50,000 undocumented immigrants, and a mayor who has promised sanctuary to all who qualify, Philadelphia appears to be a Trump administration target for its heightened deportation efforts. Between Jan. 20 and March 13, more than 350 immigrants with no criminal convictions six times as many during the same period last year were arrested by ICE agents for being here illegally.

So they broke the immigration laws of this country by coming here and/or overstaying their visas, jumping in front of others who go through the process of legal immigration and yet they "deserve" legal residency. If this makes sense to someone could they please explain it ?
such wonderful news! :)
They fear because they know they are in the wrong. Some of them decades in the wrong.
Good thing this was written instead of spoken. Otherwise, it would be one of the dumbest things I have ever heard a grown-up say out loud.
And don't break up the family; send them all back where they came from. I hate the idea of broken families.
“Comprehensive Immigration Reform” = Amnesty for Illegals
I went as far as the end of the first sentence.
Hello! WE HAVE "an avenue to legal residency in this country". Follow the laws.
Put an end to their fear. Deport them.
Hillary told them not to worry. The election was in the bag.
All criminals should live in fear.
They disrespect our country, disrespect our rule of law, disrespect our culture and our language an we are supposed to respect them in return?
Insanity.
Get out. GET. OUT!
“living otherwise law-abiding lives ... except for the laws they broke.”
And continue to break laws every day that they are here. ID fraud, document fraud, not paying taxes, driving without license and insurance, illegal conversion of social services, and a whole lot more. These foreign citizens don’t just break one law when they choose to come here illegally. They break laws constantly as they stay here.
If an American were to break a fraction of these same laws they would pay heavy fines and go to jail. And yet the Bush Republicans and Obama Democrats like illegals a whole lot more than they like you.
We should treat illegal aliens in our country in the same manner their home countries would treat Americans who were illegally present there. Sounds fair to me.
If those countries don’t like it, let’s have a nice bilateral chat. Can our citizens own property there, work, get welfare, free healthcare? Then maybe their citizens can have “favored illegal status.” But, it’s a fantasy to suppose any other country would be as tolerant as we have been.
That’s nice, seeing as how they lived in ‘snarky defiance’ under 0bama.
Isn’t this like “living in fear” of being caught by a jealous husband?
Throw the criminal bums OUT...after seizing all of their purloined assets. Winning!!!
Huh? green card?
I’m from East L.A. I was
Born in East L.A.
A great bit of news!
Philly’s ‘undocumented wealthy’ live in fear of arrest under Trump
It is not just irresponsible but ludicrous that Congress and the president would ignore the need for comprehensive bank robbery law reform even as government agents round up and arrest scores of the undocumented wealthy who deserve an avenue to legal possession of the currency they acquired.
In a special report titled The Undocumented Wealthy, staff writer Willie Sutton, Jr., shared stories of bank robbers who acquired tens of thousands of dollars at great personal risk and are now living in fear that any day might bring their arrest by the FBI.
These are men and women living otherwise law-abiding lives and making positive contributions to their communities. Arresting them and sending them to prison would needlessly break up families and, despite all the hot rhetoric to the contrary, would do little to nothing to make American banks safer or more prosperous.
With an estimated several dozen undocumented wealthy, and a mayor who has promised sanctuary to all who qualify, Philadelphia appears to be a Trump administration target for its heightened law enforcement efforts. Between Jan. 20 and March 13, more than three residents with no criminal convictions other than armed robbery several times as many as during the same period last year were arrested by FBI agents for illegal possession of money withdrawn from banks without proper documentation . . .
Just as most who evade income taxes do - or those who sell drugs - or who engage in prostitution.
I still don't understand the clamor for "comprehensive immigration reform" when the only thing wrong with the current system is that laws are not enforced vigorously enough.
