Remember though, right now corporations are paying this bill (or rather, a portion of this) in benefits.

That is real push for single payer health care. We are already in a socialized system, just trying to figure out who pays what.

not everyone works for a corporation ...

not everyone has an employer subsidize the health insurance premium ....

The people that pay their own premiums get taxed differently than those that are subsidized by an employer ....

The real culprit is the tax code ...

Good point. I was blessed to work for a large corporation for 40 years and the healthcare and pension benefits were great. That company has now gotten rid of pensions but still has good healthcare benefits. What will happen though is the corporations will welcome single-payer as a way from them to get out from under subsidizing healthcare for its employees (as you know). When "nobody pays" then everybody pays a lot more.
