A decade or more ago, at a faculty party in New York City, I listened in as a diverse group of faculty spoke casually and disparagingly of "hillbillies," "rednecks" and "white trash." I reminded them that they were speaking of my own people (my ancestry is completely Appalachian), though they shouldn't really be demeaning any group, no matter who might be around. I was met by fish-eyed responses, including the comment, "Well, you left there."
My experience is not unusual. Author Anne Shelby, in an essay "The 'R' Word" for Confronting Appalachian Stereotypes (Dwight Billings, et al, eds.), writes:
If you happen to be from eastern Kentucky, as I am, then other people’s stereotypes of the place you are from are as much a part of your landscape as the hills themselves. They can loom as large and seem as permanent. You have to find your way over or around them. But unlike the mountains, which can be seen from some distance, stereotypes jump out at you in ambush—at parties and meetings, at dinner with friends, from movies, from magazines and newspapers, from your favorite TV show. Even in college classes.

I’ve always wondered why they think it is OK to have white trash, but no one ever speaks of “black trash”.
Maybe because blacks riot and protest, and whites don’t. Ever notice on commercials, the dumb doofus using the wrong product, or the burglar breaking in on the home security commercials, is always a white male? White males don’t protest, riot, or boycott, and they have no groups advocating for them.
Under this logical fallacy its ok to call blacks 'niggers' if they havent figured out how to pull their pants up and get outta da hood.

I strongly support your suggestion—but it is hard to find a school that is not run by hard left socialists and haters. The system of preparing professors is managed by a few prominent schools and those schools produce hard left professors. The professors have to “fit in” with the ideology or getting published and promoted is too difficult.

The final step towards equality is when people can casually talk disparagingly about a group and comedians can make jokes about a group without member and supporters of the group going ape.
LGBT and black groups unfortunately have a long way to go before they can consider themselves equal to rednecks. And it’s not us straight, white males holding them back. At my son’s college (and others I’m sure) a girl recently won awards and praise for starting multiple groups aimed at preventing this equality as well as physically separating people by color and sexuality.

Boycotts don’t have to be petty and deliberate. Some people take note of where other people stand socially and politically and adjust their behavior accordingly.
Clint Eastwood mentioned this the other day, if not as eloquently. We have lost our sense of humor as a nation because of political correctness.
And in large part due virtue-signalling, sanctimonious nannies like these elbow patched, neck-bearded queers and their strident dyke counterparts on college campuses.

One of the "homeless" they interviewed was a young white woman who was raised in an affluent, college educated household in Maryland. For some reason she'd blown that all off and headed out to California - who knows why? Maybe she read Jack Kerouac's "On The Road" and thought she'd give it a try.
At the time she was interviewed, she was pregnant, living under a freeway bridge with her black boyfriend/pimp, panhandling and turning tricks to support her heroin addiction. But she'd never forgotten the casual classism of the Country Club society she came from. So, in spite of her own dismal situation, she looked down condescendingly upon various groups of other people.
Observant Christians, conservatives, corporate types like bankers - they were the scum of the earth to this young woman.
She also held southern white people in particular disdain. Maybe it was the particular way her lip curled when she called them "White trash."
When she tried to reconcile her present situation, she said that "things could be better, but at least she's not as bad as southern "white trash".
"Nope," she sneered, "don' wanna be a Trashie".
All the hours toity academics better give up there air conditioning. It was invented by the ignorant white trashy they so despise
