A report from the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) shows the demand for concealed carry witnessed its greatest surge ever between May 2016 and May 2017.

The number of permits nationwide has now surpassed 15 million.

That means more than 15 million law-abiding Americans have permits to carry a gun every day for defense of their own lives and the lives of others. And that 15 million-plus does not include the untold number of residents who legally carry without a permit in Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Kansas, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Vermont, Wyoming, and West Virginia.

OHNOZ!!!! Blood in the streets for minor fender benders. OK Corral shoot outs over parking spots. Vigilante justice everywhere. Obviously this is NOT 'common sense' thinking like "they" have in Chicago. Right?

I have non-resident permits from two states: NH and UT. I am good in 40+ states. But not in New Jersey, New York, California, Hawaii, Massachusetts, and others that do not respect the constitution. We need national reciprocity now!

Um.. I am finding it is the democrats around me. Maybe my experience is different. I sure hope so, because they love your death and they will sacrifice you when it might benefit their life.

I would like to see those numbers split into before the election and after. Just like gun sales, how many people were getting permits before President Hillary took over and did everything in her power to restrict gun rights?

In Florida, where there are about
12 million who are of legal age to get a CCW,
1.6 Million actually have concealed carry permit.
That means about 13 of every 100 adult Floridians have the ability to arm themselves outside the home.
That’s a good start.
And what anti gun rights individuals don’t realize is that no matter whether being in the line at Walmart, at the grocery store, at a restaurant, or at a gas station, the person next to them may be legally carrying a handgun and they aren’t being harmed.

Florida resident here ...

I heard this morning that our state has let hackers into the database of ccw holders. Even access to ssn thru a payment system.

Let’s post more on that subject when know here.

Just one more reason NOT to allow govt access to NON ESSENTIAL info, like SSN have nothing to do with guns licensing. They have no business having this info on us, tied into who knows what.

Are you listening Pam Bondi ???

Being an Arkansas resident I must correct the article. In Arkansas open carry is OK but to carry concealed one must have a permit.

We need to know the figures for May ‘16 to November ‘16 and November ‘16 to May ‘17 so we can determine if it was the threat of a Hillary regime or the new feeling of freedom after the election that spurred the surge.

100% of adult Floridians with the money to do so have the ability to arm themselves outside the home if they simply ignore the illegal law requiring a permit.

What use are the NRA, GOA and other such organizations if they will not challenge these state laws that infringe upon the God-given right recognized in the first amendment? Where does the membership money go?

can you carry concealed/unloaded ? Most experienced folks can load pretty quickly. The advantage of concealed/unloaded carry is no registration on file to be used against you by either the govt or by hackers like the one that hit the ccw database descibed in an earlier post.

...the God-given right recognized in the first amendment?

Obviously, that's the second. They're infringing the first too, but that's a whole 'nother thread.

I'm particularly happy about two things that have come about: in Wyoming, where we went with Constitutional Carry in 2013, a good many Wyoming residents, given the choice to carry either openly or concealed without any licensing or other governmental restrictions, are choosing to do both, sometimes depending on weather or seasonal dress, and sometimes doing both.

And when Oklahoma passed their changes to their state's carry regulartions, they accommodated those of us in Constitutional Carry states, just so long as we do the same for them.

Carry by Permitless Carry State Residents In Oklahoma.

21 O.S. Section 1290.26
Reciprocal Agreement Authority

The State of Oklahoma hereby recognizes any valid concealed or unconcealed carry weapons permit or license issued by another state, or if the state is a nonpermitting carry state, this state shall reciprocate under the permitting law of that state.

Russian spies, no doubt. Probably mistook the CCW database for a voters registration list.

Oh, let us have a little fun first. We've been working on a draft bill in Wyoming that would eliminate Wyoming recognition of driver's licenses and vehicle license plates for out-of-state residents from states that refuse to recognize Wyoming's handgun carry credentials- which since 2013 are not needed in our state, carry concealed or openly as you choose, without benefit of any nanny governmental *permission.*

But the best idea I've heard to date is the inclusion of having mobile courtrooms set up in vans in which an on-the-spot judicial hearing can be held for the confiscation and crushing at the scene for scofflaws from out of state who think they can drive in our state without valid driver's licenses or plates. And it's expected they'll prove to be right busy around Yellowstone National Park, Devils Tower and the Interstates to Mount Rushmore in tourist season.

Don't mess with Texas...nor the Cowboy State of Wyoming, neither....
