The “Robber Barons” of the net are pulling the reigns in on those they consider their property.
“power to shape the news”
Oh, is that what we’re calling it now ?
I saw a video rant after the election by a Silicon Valley DaddyGotBucks named Dave McClure.
Little Davey was all mad & butthurt that the tech wizards weren't able to manipulate the Narrative to keep the proles from voting for President Trump.

McClure: "We are allowing s**t to happen..." "...and it's our duty and our responsibility as enterpreneurs, as citizens of the f**king world to make sure that s**t does not happen..."
Translation: You proles are gonna eat the bowls of Uniparty vomit we ALLOW you to see on social media.
We're the TRUE "Resistance" - not these proto-InfoNazis...
So it's ok to pile on publishing fake news about the transparently stupid and certainly not illegal Trump - Russia "collusion," but a hint of a whiff of a corrupt prime minister gets you banned?

If I understand you accurately, you're saying (paraphrased), "So it's okay to publish tons of intellectually vacant stuff alleging a corrupt relationship between the Russians and Trump, but it's not okay to publish some well researched information that clearly causes one to suspect credible corruption related to the leadership of Malta. The former is okay, but the latter would get you banned?"
I agree with your take on it. It's absurd the double, triple, quadruple, and beyond standards they foist off on the American public.
What's worse, the world sees it. I'm talking to someone in Colombia, and down there some folks think Trump is a very bad president. I explained how that simply isn't true, and that the real corrupt people were our media and other elected officials.
