A measure to make former President Barack Obama's birthday an honorary state holiday now heads to the governor's desk after clearing the Illinois House unanimously Friday.
The bill would make Aug. 4. Barack Obama Day in Illinois, but state government and businesses would remain open.
"Mr. Obama served this country well, and I really believe personally, that we should give folks their flowers while they're still alive," bill sponsor state Rep. Marcus C. Evans Jr., D-Chicago, said on the House floor. "So honoring our president while he can experience it and feel it and and show the love, I think is needed."

Agreed. I find it strange that there is no holiday in that state honouring Reagan at least, and they go ahead with this nonsense with someone who grew up with his white mother and her parents in country club surroundings in Honolulu, HI.

Forcing students to celebrate their waste is one of their greatest joys, so that date could be out. So, can we equally ban all likenesses of Bill, Hillary, Barry, and Michell? They are offensive, so let's remove all pictures, records, likenesses, and logos used in their reign of terror on our nation.
All records from Barry have already been expunged or sealed, so we're halfway home. We need to ban that 'puke flows through the zero' campaign logo next.
If we want to memorialize a day or two in ILL-ANNOY, celebrate the month of November, remembering 1999 'Barry's Wild Limo Tour' in Gurnee. Or how about December 24, to remember the unsolved murder of Donald Young - a victim of Barry's 2008 campaign?
Or at least the day Chicago declares bankruptcy.
That might be a good bet, which level of govt does it first.
Maybe it can be regarded as a special honor to be murdered in Illinois on Barack Obama Day.
