California DOJ Working on 60 Pages of ‘Assault Weapon’ Regulatory Changes Behind Closed Doors

California’s Department of Justice (DOJ) is working on 60 pages of regulatory changes for “assault weapons” and “high capacity” magazines behind closed doors. The California DOJ was forced to turn over documentation related to the changes because of public records request that the Firearms Policy Coalition and the California Rifle and Pistol Association made.

Guns.com obtained and then published the regulatory changes, which include a revamped online registration system to allow Californians to register their “assault weapons” prior to January 1, 2018, when California’s latest “assault weapons” ban takes effect. The Firearms Policy Coalition reports this ban requires registration of all “assault weapons” outfitted with “bullet buttons” for magazine release.

I only had to register my stripped lower, why would I send them a photo of anything more?

I'll send 'em a picture of my stripped lower all right!

If the government is intent on making you a criminal, be a good one.

By taking the picture, you have defined your AW. I suspect any changes to it, i.e., a different upper, different stock, etc. will be a ‘different’ AW, not what you registered, and now an unregistered AW.

A collapsible stock, a pistol grip, heat shield etc. in combination does that. They're making it so any two of a combination of changes makes it illegal to have in California. Damn leftists. You register it, then they can later seize it. Any changes from the described registration, they seize you.

You forgot flash hider, and bayonet lug (if it is still there), but not your fault. Need a law degree to survive gun laws in CA. Oh, yeah, 10 round max magazines, or else!

Meanwhile, check out the Hammerhead CA compliant grip.

There are others, too. I think the regular magazine release might be OK with this configuration.

From a friend:

With all this “Gun Control” talk
I haven’t heard one politician
Say how they plan to take guns
from criminals, just law abiding
Citizens.

I didn’t forget, that’s what the “etc.” was for. I’ve got all that on one long gun, in addition to the bayonet lug, light attachment, etc. So it all needs to come off to be legal in California. Damn Feinstein and her lefty buddies.

Assault is an action; it doesn’t describe an object.

Go for it. :)

I probably would change the second sentence to:

“They’re both totalitarianisms that disarm their citizens.”

Or something like that, to really illustrate the same foundation they are built upon.

I made the mistake of “registering” my AK-47 as to not become an overnight Felon.

After a while I got pissed thinking I was on the Assault Weapons Owners list. I felt like I was waiting for them to show up and Tattoo a number on my Arm.

I sold it to an out of State Buyer, and made a tidy profit. Then I contacted the CA Gestapo to have my Name removed from the Subversive, I mean Assault Weapon Owners List.

I’ve been told by the CA AG that my name was removed...

I won’t make that mistake again.

I don’t own any (registered) firearms, the only thing I register each year is my vehicle.
The only reason I do that is because the CHP is always looking for (white, non hispanic) guys to issue their state required (we need the money) violations to.
What I do or do not own is my business, not the states.
