If progressives believe gender is fluid, then why not race?

If progressives believe gender is fluid, then why not race?

Philosophy professor Rebecca Tuvel touched off a firestorm of controversy this week with her paper “In Defense of Transracialism,” published in the feminist journal Hypatia.

In it, Professor Tuvel argues that we ought to support those who identify with a racial group other than the one into which they were born just as we support transgender people.

I have the voice of a large black man. Elizabeth Warren became Indian with 1/32 lineage. Can't I be a minority?

I am a transfinancialist. I identify with billionaires and I have the right to have the same money as other billionaires.

It’s actually a really good question.

Chromosomes XX — female
Chromosomes XY — male

But that is no longer agreed upon, and it’s all complex now.

But race?? You’d need Nuremburg Laws to figure if someone is legitimately black or white or Hispanic or whatever. There is no simple way to settle the issue in some cases.

Race is now a stupid concept — there isn’t any race. There are just competing cultures. And the ghetto culture is trash and deserves no part in a civilized society.

The truth is this: deep down, people KNOW sexuality isn’t “fluid”. They might acknowledge that PERCEPTION may be fluid— and it is, but perception may not correspond with reality.

Mankind wants to be a law unto himself, not subject to nature or nature’s God.

The first thing the serpent said to humankind was “Hath God said...?” He was speaking about food. Today, man asks “Hath God said my sex is male? No, I will say otherwise.”

The end is the same: sorrow for the sinner.

No, there is clearly defined race.

Negroid genes = negro
Asian genes = asian
caucasian genes = caucasian

I was just about to post the same article: I’m glad I checked first! lol

There is no doubt in my mind, that if a man can call himself a woman, then a white person can call himself black, or Asian. A black woman can call herself white, or Asian, etc. Their claims are just as valid, if not MORE valid than someone identifying as the opposite of their anatomy. For many of us with ancestors from the south, we understand that we have a few drops of black blood here and there. I do, and I am not ashamed of it, but I don’t claim to be black. Maybe I should.

Where did you find that she had ANY lineage? It is my understanding that she has none. The Dawes Rolls determine who has lineage and who doesn’t. This was a big bone of contention in my own family. There is a book written about my family, and their claim to Cherokee lineage. After much research, going back hundreds of years, it was determined that my family was mixed with African, and passed themselves off as Indian.

60% of my genes are negroid — am I black?
50% of my genes are negroid — am I black?
40% of my genes are negroid — am I black?
30% of my genes are negroid — am I black?
20% of my genes are negroid — am I black?
10% of my genes are negroid — am I black?
5% of my genes are negroid — am I black?
2% of my genes are negroid — am I black?

Help me out there — where do we draw the line? At what point is someone no longer black?

I still say race is a stupid and outmoded concept. There is a lot of blending and it’s all muddy. Gender is binary — XX or XY but we longer feel confidence in making an either/or decision.

Race? Forget about it.

I laugh at that picture, and at her. Having said that, my youngest daughter has light red/blonde hair and freckles (couldn’t tan if her life were at stake), and she is part African, from my blood. I am dark olive, and in the sun get darker than most normal African Americans. I stay out of the sun! I have blue eyes, Shirley Temple dark blonde hair, and extremely tanned skin. You cannot tell who is who when you are mixed.

Negroid genes = negro
Asian genes = asian
caucasian genes = caucasian

Unless you are a mix, then it is:

1/2 caucasian+liberal=negro

100% white+liberal=Native American:

100% caucasian+just because=+liberal=negro

Back in the 80s I gambled every weekend in the Tijuana sports books, drank Tecate beer by the boatload, and ate tortilla chips and salsa like you wouldn’t believe, I must be a Mexican in a gringos body.
