Circuit Court Nominees In The Trump Administration: A Nationwide Round-Up

SHARES (President Donald Trump by Ali Shaker/VOA) (President Donald Trump by Ali Shaker/VOA) In my admittedly biased opinion (as a legal nerd), the greatest success of President Donald Trump’s first 100 days was his nomination of Justice Neil Gorsuch to serve on the United States Supreme Court. It was a wise decision by President Trump, and it was executed almost flawlessly. Regardless of what happens to the rest of the Trump agenda, he has already made his mark on government and fulfilled one important campaign promise.

But as we all know, the Supreme Court is far from the only game in town. Because SCOTUS hears around 80 cases a Term, compared to the 50,000 new cases that get filed in federal appellate courts each year, these 13 circuit courts — the D.C. Circuit, the Federal Circuit, and the regional circuits (the First Circuit through the Eleventh Circuit) — wield YUGE amounts of influence.

Trump needs to look to Trump supporters for nominees, not RINO republicans or dems.

The Circuit Courts were the very first target in the crosshairs for the Democrats, particularly Hillary Clinton when Bill was running.

I also remember news reports that the Democrats were going to learn to do.... Bible-speak. Can you believe that?

Mostly, capturing the Circuit Courts was and remains the brass ring, for impacting our country’s direction.

Seems like a good collection of potentials...

If he runs out of names, he is welcome to add me to the list for the 9th...Very quickly it would be known as the double-tap circuit...

Any idea who in this administration is supposed to be paying attention to this? The same problem exists in the executive branch. Now that the cabinet is in place, I would hope that the subcabinet and other political appointees can start being filled asap. My concern is that the political/campaign people around Trump are so busy blackballing traditional Republicans, including most of the movement conservatives, that they've lost sight of the need to build a team if they actually hope to control the government.

This year will soon be half over. It's already been seven months since the election. By the end of the year, Congress will be dominated by the 2018 elections and serious reform will become much more difficult. After 2018, the political industry will pivot immediately to the 2020 presidential sweepstakes. I do not get the sense that anyone on Team Trump understands how short the window of opportunity is.

Cubs get sloppy in the 18th, trail 5-4.

Longest interleauge game ever.

46 combined Ks (and counting) shatters previous record of 43.
