Army Secretary Nominee: Citizens Should Have Same Arms As Military
Bearing Arms ^ | May 2, 2017 | By Bob Owens

The West Point graduate and Iraq War Army veteran President Donald Trump has nominated to be the new Army Secretary has a very good understanding of the Second Amendment, which is predictably driving anti-liberty liberals insane.

Tennessee state Sen. Mark Green (R), President Donald Trump's nominee for Army secretary, strongly believes that citizens should be armed -- and not just with any ol' guns. They should be able to possess whatever weapons the military has, because an armed citizenry is the "ultimate checks and balances" against the federal government.

M16? Yah,OK.Field artillery? Maybe not!

One of my favorite lines from Good Morning,Vietnam..."what's the difference between the Army and the Cub Scouts? The Cub Scouts don't have heavy artillery."

an armed citizenry is the "ultimate checks and balances" against the federal government.

Mark Green gets it. Also, an armed citizenry is a deterrent to foreign invasion.

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

In the article, he mentions aircraft carriers. And he's right. They may be prohibitively expensive, but they're protected by the Second Amendment.

I'll settle for Ma Deuce ...

Thank you! That is the point. You don’t want an armed government and an unarmed populace. The people are the boss, not the government.

sounds like he is cut from the same cloth as many of our Founding Fathers and certain to entertain the extreme animus of the “progressive” totalitarians in our queer government.

Someone who understands the 2nd Amendment isn't just for hunters.

Read the constitution sometime, Letters of Marquis were for private war ships. The most powerful weapons we had at first. The reason we have to reauthorize the army every 2 years is because we were not supposed to have a regular standing army. It was supposed to be a call up of the militias with arms already present.

When will my M-16 arrive and how many rounds will I get with it. I’m ready to clear out some of the “trash” that has infected this country.

The militia system worked until half the country wanted to leave, and called up their militias to make it so. The federal government has basically worked to undermine states’ rights ever since.

Owning artillery was legal once upon a time, and citizenry did indeed own cannon once.

Cannot wait till this guy is on board as I expect to see some decent stuff for sale through military surplus especially when the army transitions away from the 556. Hopefully even before that, they look around see if they have a stockpile of M-14s, I’d love to have mine back.
