He is married to Beena Minhaj, whom he met in college.
Minhaj is playing the immigrant card pretty heavy even though he is not an immigrant. Probably lies about his status according to benefits he might get.

I read that during the Obama administration the White House suggested that speakers at the press dinner could make fun of Obama’s ears. That was, apparently, the limit. Then, the article quoted several “jokes” mentioning his jug ears. I think Obama’s skin was the thinnest of any president to date. He makes Trump look like he has elephant skin.
