The Daily Shows Hasan Minhaj, who is hosting the White House Correspondents Dinner in DC, was asked by organizers not to make fun of President Donald Trump, who will not be in attendance, says a source who saw the comic at the Village Underground on Thursday.
It was a polite request because Trump is so thin-skinned, the source said.
Reuters Jeff Mason, who is president of the White House Correspondents Association, insists he never said Trump was thin-skinned, but added that he wanted a balanced event.

With withering support from the left the dinner is destined to be the ultimate bomb.
He’s having a rally in Harrisburg PA at the same time. Hopefully it is a filled arena.
I would say...these folks a very spoiled chicken shits at heart.....should get a real job....
Maria always reminds me of the beautiful Sophia Loren.
Let them make fun of whoever they want.
Here’s to never having to hear again about the self-absorbed blackguards in this organization. Let them wilt into irrelevance.
there is laughing with someone in the jokes you make and laughing at someone. the diner as it was originally intended was to have the hosts an those involved including the president make good joking natured jabs at each other. this has devolved to the point with liberals that they are unable to do humor that is not mean and nasty about anyone conservative. I am sure the organizers are terrified of what’s going to come out of the mouths of those who do any sort of joking because of the damage it will do to news media in the publics eye.
I call shenanigans!! BS to make Trump look bad.
Yes, it would be different if they didn’t already try to mock him 24/7. They just want the opportunity to make him stand there and listen to it. It must gall them no end that he doesn’t feel the need to suck up to them by just taking their harassment in the name of “good sportsmanship”, when they want him to be the only one who plays by the rules. It’s what they always do to conservatives, and we’ve been falling for it for too long.
Yes, they only think that they have any power because our side played their game.
Exactly.
As far as not making fun of Trump, that's a lost cause from the beginning. Awards presenters are Woodward and Bernstein, you know, the last heroic journalists who brought down an evil, fascist President and vaulted the craft of journalism into its current status of high regard? On hand will be a team of EMTs in case anyone is injured patting himself on the back. The rest of us will be listening to the speech, which presumably someone will be covering. We know who won't be.
Yeah, who is this guy???? Never heard of him. This is who they got for the biggest event of the year for Beltway bloviators. Maybe when Trump declined to show up, they had a hard time getting a big name to host.
They know their goose is cooked if they’re looking at 7 more years without POTUS showing up to their little dress-up tea party.
I hope Trump holds a big rally every year on this night.
Really? Haven't watched "The Daily Show", Colbert, Kimmel, Fallon, Seth Meyers, or any of the other late night hosts lately, have you?
He is Muslim and a first-generation American..from India
He's a big LGBTQ advocate...and assumed one himself
Called Trump a racist Cheeto
I was just thinking ... how pleasant and timely it would be for an outbreak of salmonella at this shindig?
They won’t honor the request because violating it is a badge of honor in their dark little world.
I agree - a classic beauty.
I always thought because of her (Maria's) job(s) her attractiveness was underappreciated - or at least somewhat ignored.
But she sure gave people something to think about at the Al Smith dinner!

Reminds me a bit, of how the Democrat response to Trump’s recent address to Congress, was an old man, former governor of Kentucky, who never had been on the national political scene. Nobody knew who he was.
