After that he joined the Special Forces.

Col. Guillaume Beaurpere, who was the commander of Mantenuto's army unit, was the person who announced his death.

'Those of you that knew Mike will remember him for his passionate love for his family and his commitment to the health of the force.'

He was a Green Beret, which was a lot more important than his being a movie star.

I wonder if this was PTSD.

Really sad to hear this...

Growing up in an environment were professional athletes were forbidden from competing in the Olympics was beyond absurd. Introduced me to how stupid and disingenous the left was. Getting paid by a government or a professional sports company, what is the difference ?

BC is Boston College. The Colonel has rubbed elbows high up. I wonder what the conection was?
Keynote speaker Lieutenant Colonel Guillaume “Will” Beaurpere ’94, military assistant to the secretary of the army (Pentagon) honored the commitment and bravery of BC's men and women in service during this special spiritual celebration at Reunion Weekend 2014. Rest in Peace young man. Being from the deep South, I am not a hockey person although my transplanted Yankee Granddaughter is.

Selfish sack of crap. Many of my former regiment members chose this route. There is no more selfish thing to do than taking your own life. Cowards way out.

I’m sorry if this sounds harsh, but not really.
