According to the article, the person I quoted "identifies" as a "queer, transgender man." (I interpret this to mean that the speaker is a woman with a lot of psychological disturbance and very little personal judgment.)
In other words, she has much bigger problems than complete ignorance of Dante's Inferno. It would really be best for "science" if this sort of person could be persuaded to stop "defending" it.
