Trump Responds To Sanctuary Cities Ruling: 'See You In The Supreme Court!'

President Trump ripped the Tuesday decision by a federal court to strike down his executive order blocking federal funding from sanctuary cities, in a series of tweets Wednesday morning.

Trump criticized the 9th Circuit for rendering two objectionable rulings: the Tuesday decision on sanctuary cities, and the appeals court decision that took down his immigration order.

"First the Ninth Circuit rules against the ban & now it hits again on sanctuary cities-both ridiculous rulings. See you in the Supreme Court!" Trump tweeted.

"Until he moves on these issues, he's pretty much letting the judiciary run the country. Bad precedent being set."

These things take time. Fear not.

From the judges opinion and order ...

On January 25, 2017, President Donald J. Trump issued Executive Order 13768, "Enhancing Public Safety in the Interior of the United States." ...

Section 9, titled "Sanctuary Jurisdictions" lays out this policy in more detail. It reads:

Sec. 9. Sanctuary Jurisdictions. It is the policy of the executive branch to ensure, to the fullest extent of the law, that a State, or a political subdivision of a State, shall comply with 8 U.S.C. 1373.

(a) In furtherance of this policy, the Attorney General and the Secretary, in their discretion and to the extent consistent with law, shall ensure that jurisdictions that willfully refuse to comply with 8 U.S.C. 1373 (sanctuary jurisdictions) are not eligible to receive Federal grants, except as deemed necessary for law enforcement purposes by the Attorney General or the Secretary. The Secretary has the authority to designate, in his discretion and to the extent consistent with law, a jurisdiction as a sanctuary jurisdiction. The Attorney General shall take appropriate enforcement action against any entity that violates 8 U.S.C. 1373, or which has in effect a statute, policy, or practice that prevents or hinders the enforcement of Federal law.

(b) To better inform the public regarding the public safety threats associated with sanctuary jurisdictions, the Secretary shall utilize the Declined Detainer Outcome Report or its equivalent and, on a weekly basis, make public a comprehensive list of criminal actions committed by aliens and any jurisdiction that ignored or otherwise failed to honor any detainers with respect to such aliens.

(c) The Director of the Office of Management and Budget is directed to obtain and provide relevant and responsive information on all Federal grant money that currently is received by any sanctuary jurisdiction.

Just ignore the judges order. He has no authority. The Supreme Court ruled against the Arizona Law with John Roberts joining the majority, so will they apply the same standard with Trump in charge?

Exactly right, the dems are winning these battles because they fight harder and nastier than we do.

What's really quite amusing is that we could fight pretty viciously using the Constitution and deal some really, really good blows. In fact, given the decades of the government ignoring the Constitution simply treating it as the supreme law of the land would be a pretty big blow against the status quo.

In this particular case, Trump could simply cite Art. 4, Sec. 4 of the Constitution and deploy the military to secure the borders -- the backlash would illuminate/prove that there's an invasion going on and, by that virtue, the sanctuary cities certainly are rendering aid and comfort to the enemies of the several States. — Thus these city officials [and judges giving them cover] could be prosecuted for treason.

Trump,is going all in on a wobbly SC and l think it’s a mistake. What if he loses? He will have ceded immigration policy from the executive branch to the Juducial, which would be a disaster. He should have slapped that Seattle punk down. Yes all hell would break loose but look where we are now.

Sessions sent a don’t do this “or else” letter to San Francisco.

Sessions: I don't understand why my letter had no effect… it was sternly worded and on legal-sized paper!

Trump’s 1st term governing window is 7% gone. Legislatively, it’s ~12% gone.

And the walls will fall down and we’ll all be killed. Very concerning!

Perhaps, but until actual consequences happen to the leaders, that’s all that a “letter” is: a piece of paper.

The only way I would be wrong is if President Trump is no longer protecting illegal aliens from our laws by rescinding DACA.
When did that happen?

“This is why I voted for Trump. He seems like an honerable man, but he has been defeated at every turn.”

Defeat? Puleeze. President Trump hasn’t been in office 6 months yet & you are claiming he’s been defeated. What nonsense.

The man has accomplished so much & hasn’t conceded anything yet. He’s been stymied by the 9th Circuit but don’t look for that to last since Gorsuch is on the USSC. If the USSC decides against President Trump then & only then will it be valid to say he’s been “defeated”.

I’m really sorry you continue to put forth fallacies as fact. That you do so daily is a cause for concern as the repeated use of disordered thinking is bad for one’s health.

In order for your statement to be valid, President Trump’s EO for the DOJ, ICE etc to follow the law & deport criminal aliens would never have been issued. ICE wouldn’t be deporting criminal aliens in ever increasing numbers & there wouldn’t be a need for more judges to process deportation hearings.

You are the one issuing fallacies.
I said he is protecting illegal aliens from our laws with DACA.
DACA is still operating. DACA protects illegal aliens from our laws.
It is indefensible, so quit trying.

Criminals are not eligible for DACA and even under Obama were being removed.

“I said he is protecting illegal aliens from our laws with DACA.”

Another falsehood/fallacy.

President Trump’s DOJ is arresting, detaining & deporting criminal aliens, including folks who are here under Obama’s DACA program.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2017/04/18/first-protected-dreamer-deported-under-trump/100583274/

So President Trump is “protecting” these DACA folks when they are being arrested, detained & deported, right?

Yes, DACA is still on the books & illegals are “protected” until they are arrested, detained & deported by ICE. I’ll take that everyday until Obama’s DACA program is removed from the books & beyond.

What’s indefensible is you & your ilk pushing fallacies in hopes of dividing & conquering President Trump’s base of support. As recently polling suggests, you are failing miserably.

One guy who had been protected and did not maintain his protected status and was removed is not proof that Trump is not protecting illegal aliens with DACA.
765,000 are still enjoying protection from removal.

“One guy who had been protected and did not maintain his protected status and was removed is not proof that Trump is not protecting illegal aliens with DACA.”

You can’t even write a fallacy-free sentence today lol. There’s more than one case of this occurring.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/feb/16/daca-dreamer-detained-immigration-texas-josue-romero

I expect there will be thousands more of these cases as the DOJ/ICE start taking down the m13 gangs as ordered by President Trump.

Question: Do you support President Trump today. Yes or no, please :)

His travel ban is still suspended and its months old.

The administration was waiting for Justice Gorsuch to join the USSC. That has now happened.

The President should be seeking expedited reviews for all of these cases...
