Voters in France went to the polls on Sunday in the first round of the presidential election. The top two candidates go into a run-off in a fortnight. Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen are narrow favourites, but François Fillon and Jean-Luc Mélenchon trailed them tightly in the polls. Find out who’s ahead and who’s winning where

I read the cities weren’t tabulated yet... so are they saying Macron wins this round, now?

The Euro is up as they believe that the supporters of the other candidates will not vote for Le Pen.

They just dont see the damage happening to the country if they dont change course

That’s all they’re saying - he’s the winner. His dull speech was a victory speech. Something very Obama about that, lol...claiming victory in the jaws of defeat.

When her father ran in 2002 he barely did better in the second round than he did in the first. Everybody who wasn’t for him the first time went with Chirac, as did many who didn’t bother to vote in the first round. Marine Le Pen will do better, but winning won’t be easy.

One thing I agree with is that Le Pen is not talking enough about the economy. People are skittish about leaving the EU when they hear the threats of starvation whatever.
