I love columbines. They grow wild here (the orange variety) but we won’t be seeing any for awhile since it’s still so cold.

FYI: I did some research online since I was wondering about the color variations among the 3 giraffes. April is much darker than Oliver and the calf is lighter yet.
Apparently the spots of a reticulated giraffe darken with age, and males end up darker than females. Since April is 15, that would explain why she is so much darker than 5-year-old Oliver and 10-day-old Baby G (who will hopefully have a name before long!).

The heritage ones self seed. The new hybred ones (as this appears to be ) must be propagated It’s not difficult but takes a bit of know how !
I’ve tried to buy heritage when available. But newer varieties have brighter colors

It is a long way from where I live but just a reminder to all of us in the mountains that our time is coming.
Years ago we never worried about fire, now it’s part of our life.
Haven’t unpacked some things from our last year scare.
