Florida High School Students Forced to Remove Cross Jewelry and Participate in LGBT Activities

Students in a math class at Riverview High School in Florida are being persecuted for their faith. They are punished for not removing their cross jewelry. They are harassed for not embracing the LGBT agenda pushed on them by their lesbian teacher. But one ninth-grade student is pushing back. Her attorneys filed a demand letter requiring the teacher to cease and desist by close of business Thursday.Cross.jpg - 500

Parents told Liberty Counsel that at least three students were not allowed to wear their cross necklaces. Math teacher Lora Jane Riedas claimed they were “gang symbols.” When one student asked why, Riedas told her she was disrespectful and she must take her necklace off. The necklace held a crucifix less than an inch long. The student felt she was forced to deny her faith.

Riedas is a member of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network’s Leadership Institute. She engages in blatant LGBT political activism in her classroom. Her classroom is decorated with LGBT insignia and rainbows. She decorated students’ notebooks in rainbow stickers without their permission. She singled out one student for several false “misbehavior” claims after the student removed the sticker from her notebook.

Riedas has plans to promote GLSEN’s “Day of Silence” Friday. GLSEN’s guide requires students to take part in political activism. Liberty Counsel stated that students can either “’go along to get along’ or risk being ‘outed’ as disagreeing with the teacher.” Students are encouraged to support the LGBT agenda and Day of Silence by not speaking. Those who speak will be required to answer class questions.

My response to anything like this is to ask why are kids whose parents give a damn about them still in Public School?
It is long past the time when parents could say it's only a little thing or they couldn't see what public school is all about. Public School is child abuse and parents who send their children to public school either only think of the children as social ornaments with no other significance or they are comfortable with the abuse of their children.

Parental complaint is useless so long as the schools have any connection with the Federal Government at all. Get your kids the hell out. There is no history in public school, no teaching of calculation, little teaching of reading and none of grammar. There is lots of social programming by a system that is reducing all individuals to interchangeable units of labor with zero reasoning ability and zero loyalty or even awareness of anything greater than themselves other than the All Wise Government.

Not any more.

I’m making a slight digression here, but I’m old enough to remember when prayer was allowed in public schools. My 3rd grade teacher was Jewish. And every day at lunch time she’d lead the class in a non-denominational prayer. What a wonderful thing!

But I’m a strict interpreter of the Constitution. So I must reluctantly say that such a prayer would be unconstitutional. As I noted in a previous post, it’s a shame that the Founders did not explicitly state that we are a Judeo-Christian nation.

It is way past time for that. Public school is terminal and there is no effective local influence. Parents can change some egregious practices for a year or two but cannot change the curriculum which is geared toward producing work units with the attention spans and reasoning abilities of 5 year olds. So long as the FedGov is involved there is no remedy other than extraction of children from the system.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;

A teacher praying in school is not Congress establishing a religion.

I am a Christian. But no student (or staff member) should be allowed to exhibit any religious symbol in a public school. So a crucifix is out, as is a Star of David, as is a hijab.

Public schools, military installations, government offices, etc. ... all must be religiously and politically neutral. Wear a crucifix, a Star of David, etc. if you wish. But keep it under your shirt when you are working at a public institution.

There is no neutral position on God.

If you oust any mention of religion, it's not a neutral position. It's the position supporting the no God stance.

This country was founded on Christian principles and when it was and the Constitution and First Amendment were written, public schools across the nation opened each day with Bible reading and prayer. And the Founding Father's said NOTHING about this violating any part of what they instituted in this government.

If they didn't see any conflict, then there isn't any.

You are taking the easy way out, the cowards way out.

There's a world of difference between allowing a hijab and granting special privileges for it.

I am 100% opposed to making exceptions for it, but if they want to wear it, that's their choice. Just don't play the martyr for it and demand special treatment.

Yes, you do make a good point there. But what then of a public school teacher who - on a daily basis - recites a Muslim prayer to the class? Is that up to the local School Board to allow it? Or is it up the state? Maybe.

i believe king Nebuchadnezzar later became saved- He was certainly impressed by what happened in the furnace- but still remained unsaved at that point- it wasn’t until later, when God caused him to eat grass for 7 years- that He actually became saved-

The book of Daniel is a wonderful book of praise and admiration for God by a once godless king, and by several men who stood strong in the face of death and never compromised
