Washington (CNN)US authorities have prepared charges to seek the arrest of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, US officials familiar with the matter tell CNN. The Justice Department investigation of Assange and WikiLeaks dates to at least 2010, when the site first gained wide attention for posting thousands of files stolen by the former US Army intelligence analyst now known as Chelsea Manning. Prosecutors have struggled with whether the First Amendment precluded the prosecution of Assange, but now believe they have found a way to move forward.

Nonsense. Prosecute the effin leakers withing CIA, not the publisher of the leaks.

I'm not excusing anybody.

It's like drugs: you have producers and distributors and users. At each step, there is a crime being committed.

Likewise with leaks: you have the leakers and the clients for those leaks. Like with drugs, if you don't have the clientele (users), you won't have the distributors and sellers. Same thing for intelligence leaks: without the clients, you won't have the incentives to leak. Prosecute at all ends.

""Julian Assange has no First Amendment freedoms. He's sitting in an Embassy in London. He's not a US citizen," Pompeo said."

So, how does the US have jurisdiction?

Besides Wikileaks helped keep the Witch from getting back into the White Tower.

Can we really pass a law in this country that says that a foreign news organization can be prosecuted for leaking crap handed to them by US Intel personnel or hackers? Really?

You are all out of your freeping MINDS!!!

Trump should definitely arrest Julian Assange, and them immediately PARDON him!

That way he doesn’t have to stay cooped up at the embassy in fear anymore!

Would be far far less abusive than the pardons that Obama rolled out.... FOR SURE!

Answer: We have zero jurisdiction to arrest the guy.

But if publishing classified info within the US is a crime, why aren’t Pinchy Sulzberger and Jeff Bezos in jail for their respective rags’ constant stories regarding such info??

Assange is an aggregator. Let me ask you folks, if Assange wasn’t there and didn’t post it, how would we even know it was leaked in the first place? Taking him out of the picture simply will not eliminate the basic problem that someone or several someones are out there disseminating this information. If Assange is gone, they will simply find a new place, probably unknown to us, to go.

If someone has been robbing your store and someone else tells you “hey, look here’s your stuff that I found on the street. I got this from one guy and this from another. Is it yours?”

Do you accuse the person who told you there’s a problem and brought the stolen merchandise to you or the people who are guilty of breaking in, that also might also be your employees?

Everything is against the law in a tyranny.

I’m not sure how you are equating drug dealing with the truth being revealed about the crimes and corruption in our highest government offices. It’s more than a stretch.

CNN??? Really.... They can’t stand Julian and remember they told us that we were not to believe what Wiki Leaks said until it went through them first... President Trump isn’t going to do anything to Julian...this is all

Forget CNN. The Trump administration (Pompeo) is already on record saying that they are going after Assange.

They are on the right side politically. Now, and for some time, it does not matter what one does. It only matters what one’s political belief is. As long as one’s political beliefs are on the Left, the evidence has shown that the laws do not apply to then.

If this is the Justice Dept’s priority, and it’s a big if seeing the source is CNN, then it’s a friggin’ mistake.

Wikileaks is one of the few honest news organizations. Imagine how ignorant we would be of Hillary’s and the DNC’s misdeeds without Wikileaks. What, are we going to be reduced to getting nothing but pap from the official State controlled media?

Assange let America know that out intel agencies have been turned against the American people. In publishing, he did nothing more than the NYT.

Big mistake. This is coming from that moron Pompeo at CIA I bet.
