“Q: What do you get when you cross a Jehovah’s Witness with a Unitarian Universalist? A: Someone who will knock on your door, but they can’t tell you why.”

LOL post of the day.

Or can't answer when you say, "who is it?"

All I have ever seen from them is respectful and dedicated people trying in their way to serve the Lord.

The "lord" they serve is not the God and Father of Jesus Christ. Very antithetical to Christianity. But they are civil about it, which I can respect.

I had the Jehovah’s Witness visit me two years ago.

Turned out to be FBI. They don’t answer “who is it” either.

“Or can’t answer when you say, “who is it?” “

Or when you ask, “What do you want?” LOL Or, “Can I help you?” hahahaha

I could do this all night.

“They want to preserve the Russian identity and the Russian nation and that means cultural protectionism.”

I think you’re right. Putin has invested lots of time and effort in supporting the Russian orthodox church.

They are a cult, believe me

I spent enough of those monthly visits with the ones around here to tend to agree with you. On one hand, they are dedicated to a very decent life and incredible morals and personal habits. On the other hand, they expect those who adhere to JW to accept their interpretation of the Bible and how they lead their lives without question. In the US; they're mostly a mild nuisance or respected from a distance. I could understand how in many countries their putting their principles above the law and the culture/values of their country could be bothersome.

True, and very severe with their children. If a child disobeys or decides they don’t want to be a JW, they are shunned and family is supposed to disown them. In fact, all they have to do is question anything their publications say in order for that to happen.

I came from a JW family, and you can ask me or many other hundreds of thousands, if you have been on the inside, it is a cult.

There is nothing ‘Christian’ about Jehovah’s Witnesses...

Correct... not nice to friends of fanily members, either. My niece dated a JW kid & his parents would not allow her to step foot on their lawn, let alone in their house. She always had to wait outside. Strange people...Christians?? Not!

The JW kid your niece dated is lucky, for most of them if their parents even suspected that they had any pagan friend they would not let them out of the house.

I’m glad you made it out.

We had a dog that would give a “woof” when anyone came to the door - friends, mailmen, fedex, strangers, etc. Just to let us know someone was there.

One day she was barking her head off and clawing at the door - she NEVER did that. I saw some people coming up the drive and the dog got crazier. I couldn’t believe they rang the doorbell with the dog going nuts and me holding it back so it wouldn’t wreck the door.

Through the door I asked who it was?

“Do you know the real name of God?”

“Oh - yeah - Jehovah! We’re good, thank you. Good bye!”

The dog never acted like that again. Although I did invite a Mormon friend over to see what might happen! (Nope - nothing.)

There is nothing ‘Christian’ about Jehovah’s Witnesses...

Every person has the right to worship God as best he or she understands Him, and in peace. But that right ends where the rights of others to do the same begins.

I would never ascribe the doctrines of Jehovah's Witnesses to Christianity either. But so long as they are pursuing their beliefs in peace, I have to oblige them that right.

It's for the same reason which I believe Islam will never be able to coexist with western civilization.

Yes, I’ve known some Mormons I can sympathize with. I could write a book about the hurt they cause, but there have been many books written. Most JWs are still Christian, thank goodness. I am also, except I never want to get too involved in any Christian organization. God and Jesus are here and I don’t need some man or organization to tell me what they say.

It's just too bad they are built on a poor foundation.

They believe Christ is the son of God. But it ends there, and it is a cult.
