Not a big fan of JWs but never thought they were extreme in any way that harmed anyone else.

Besides their perverted theology, I have nothing against JW’s. They are polite enough in their up-front contacts at people’s front doors. Sometimes too up front. But “extremist” and inciting hatred? Hardly.

Q: What do you get when you cross a Jehovah’s Witness with a Unitarian Universalist?
A: Someone who will knock on your door, but they can’t tell you why.

Most people don’t know that Jehovah’s Witnesses were among the groups persecuted and sent to death camps by the Nazis. Their theology is something I’ve lots of problems with, but they aren’t even really a minor nuisance for all their incessant door-knocking.

Hardly.Yes, they are polite when I tell them I am not interested and send them on their way. I guess Russians don't like uninvited people knocking on their doors. Must give them NKVD/KGB flashbacks.

They are harmless. I thought Russia was becoming more open to all Christian denominations. This sounds like a putsch by the Orthodox Church.................

Many years ago the Russian Orthodox had priests sprinkling “holy water” on ICBM’s. I kid you not.
Or at least it was reported that is was on Russian TV as I recall.

I hate to say but I can appreciate their point of view. They want to preserve the Russian identity and the Russian nation and that means cultural protectionism.
We could use some of that in the USA.
