The Democrats' Desperate Ploy To Block Tax Reform
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 4/18/2017 | Staff

Taxes: Democrats say they won't work with President Trump on tax reform unless he first releases his tax returns. This has to be the lamest excuse for not fixing the tax code we've ever heard.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said this week that "if he doesn't release his returns, it is going to make it much more difficult to get tax reform done."

Democrats say that seeing Trump's tax returns is critical to tax reform, because otherwise how would anyone know if changes to the tax code will benefit Trump.

As Schumer put it, "releasing his own full tax returns (would) erase any doubt of where his priorities lie."

Not coincidentally, this argument has started popping up in newspaper opinion pages at the same time.

USA Today posted an op-ed on Saturday by the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, arguing that "before this administration even thinks of proposing any changes to the tax code, we should see what tax code provisions the president himself has been and is taking advantage of, and how much tax he has paid in the past few years."

If tax reform eliminates a bunch of deductions and tax credits, they will not be able to claim Trump benefits any more than anyone else in his tax bracket. I do not recall this EVER coming up before for any other President, yet EVERY other President benefited personally from lowering tax rates, including JFK.

Of course, if they mean any cut in the top marginal tax rate will benefit Trump and therefor is impossible, they need to be roundly ignored as pure obstructionists.

What really needs to be done is to get the lower end of earners back on the tax rolls by making everyone subject to the AMT — no matter what your deductions, exemptions, allowances, and credits would otherwise dictate, EVERYONE should pay a minimum 10% of AGI. And all businesses should pay a minimum 2% of gross revenue, between payroll and income taxes — businesses should not be paying nothing, even if they are losing money, just set aside tax payments from every sale like any other expense.

Every day the dems prove they are nothing more than spiteful children who have no business being in government at any level.

They simply aren’t mentally capable of the maturity needed.

Sad.

Cuck Scummer should shut his pie hole before Jeff Sessions locks him up for molesting children, the freaking perv. There's a special place in hell for filth like this.

Satan knows his time for dominion here on Earth is rapidly ending, and the lake of fire waits patiently, so patiently to sear and scorch him for eternity.

Him and Cucky Scummer. Enjoy.

Tax relief?

Keep the stupid code and let every American tax payer/worker work tax free one in every 4 yrs of their working lives and no taxes after age 65.

So simple even a Schumer could understand it and for Pelosi we would not have to pass this plan to see what's in it.

They (Dems) really do treat The Federal Government like some adolescent farting contest. Just like the homos they lionize, they are the petulant children of privilege and convenience and immediate gratification. They deserve to be whipped within an inch of their useless lives.

So the Democrats are willing to hold the American people hostage and deny them tax reform in order to get Trump’s tax returns—good for voters to know that partisan politics are more important to Democrats than American citizens.

Play your games Chuckie...and any shutdown belongs to the Dems.

This has to be one of the most ignorant statements I've ever read on FR. I'd explain it to you, but obviously you lack the basic arithmetic skill to understand the explanation. Go put on your Bernie shirt and chant "What do we want? more. When do we want it? Now."

They aren’t going to work with Trump on tax reform anyway because there is nothing that the two sides can agree on.

What a bunch of boloney!

They do not need to see his tax return—they already know what he does for a living.

Just because Democrats write the tax code to benefit themselves and their cronies at everyone else’s expense (i.e. crony capitalism) does NOT mean that a Republican tax code has the same purpose.

So, where are our armies to go post on forums that this is a case, once again, of Democrats accusing Republicans of using leftist tactics that they perfected?

“...good for voters to know that partisan politics are more important to Democrats than American citizens...”

The overwhelming majority of the dem base do not pay taxes, but they vote as often as possible.

What is driving Democrats crazy is that (thanks to the IRS) they have ALREADY seen Trump’s tax returns and have ALREADY written the misleading anti-Trump campaign hit-pieces they are lusting to “legally” run.

So, IMHO, Trump’s refusal to allow them to publish their dishonest attacks is yet another brilliant decision by him.

Let the dishonest Dems suffer!

“Senator Schumer, have you already seen President Trump’s tax returns?”

“Would you repeat that “denial” under oath?”
