Yep, he could have easily done that to himself during his acting episode for the cameras, or he could have been a man about it and simply walked off. He chose to act like a man-toddler so security obliged him and dragged him off.
I am not nor have ever been a cop or cop sympathizer by the way. I just don’t like to see someone scam someone else like dao definitely was. Anyone who thinks his acting performance was real is truly naive.
I also don’t like to see people vilified for just doing their job like the security people have been. If you think that type of work is easy then you have never tried it. It’s made especially difficult when a man-child like dao refuses to be reasonable or adult in their behavior. Short of waiting for the person to leave on his own the only option is to physically remove the offending passenger.
I see UA has declared no one will be physically removed going forward which means one of two things will likely happen. The flight will be cancelled for all the passengers on that plane or the other passengers will beat the shit out of the offending passenger next time after screaming at him to GTFO the plane. Once again proving stupid people do stupid things and there’s no cure for stupid. I wonder how many people will step up to be a witness to the beating then. Oh, and it will be a real beating, and not a fake one like with dao probably with broken ribs, arms, nose, and other body parts being damaged.
Let that happen just one time and never see another stupid person pull that nonsense again knowing what will happen to him. Even if they let the idiot stay and kick someone else off it’s amazing how many people will trip while walking by the perp with their elbow breaking teeth and a nose and a rib and a, well, you get the idea.

If there is a doubt that the person’s reservation will be honored... short of some wrongdoing by the person... then don’t let the person on the plane. Simple enough?

He was seated like the others. This isn’t the military and it wasn’t an emergency situation. He had every right to his seat. Calling the police was inflammatory and unnecessary.
The airline should have done the right thing.
