Embattled Fox News host Bill O'Reilly announced on Tuesday that he will be going off the air for almost two weeks, to take a vacation.
The anchor's announcement comes amid an ongoing controversy over sexual harassment allegations made against him and a new report that James Murdoch wants him out of the company for good.
The claims prompted 60 sponsors to drop advertising deals with the prime time show and led to an internal investigation.
Four network sources told New York Magazine that it's possible O'Reilly's getaway could turn into a permanent vacation.
The Murdoch family, the owners of Fox, are reportedly split on what to do about O'Reilly.
Rupert Murdoch and his eldest son Lachlan are said to be inclined to keep O'Reilly, while younger son James - the CEO of 21st Century Fox - wants to give him the boot.
James also pushed to fire Roger Ailes amid last summer's sex scandal, and sources think he could be successful in weeding out O'Reilly this time around.
'The assumption is that he’ll exit in a non-embarrassing way,' one senior Fox News staffer told the magazine.

I agree. I don’t always agree with B O R, and sometimes cringe at the way he cuts off others, but he does a lot more good toward promoting some of our goals than most anyone in the MSM these days.

Sad? Maybe, but profit is why companies are in business and if the CEOs and COOs feel they are in danger of losing business for buying time on O’Reilly why should they be criticized for dropping him? What is sad is that for all our so called anger at the mainstream, conservatives don’t or can’t organize squat against the msny corps and companies that insult us and our beliefs. If we had half the boycott smarts and dedication of the Progressives we would be far mor influential and respected.

Mark Levin Attacks Bill O’Reilly: “You Paid More In Hush Money For Your Little Phone Sex Than I’ve Ever Earned.”
Bill O’Reilly (audio) actually attacked his fellow right wing talk show hosts for being against the bail out.
“It gets me angry,” said O’Reilly. “I do talk radio and most talk radio is conservative-dominated ideologues; Kool-Aid drinking idiots. Idiots. Screaming at you that this is socialism, this is this, this is that. ‘It’s Clinton’s fault.’ It’s Clinton’s fault? He hasn’t been in office in 8 years. It’s Bush’s fault! It happened under Bush’s watch.”
But then O’Reilly’s tirade seemed to aim at Rush Limbaugh-without actually naming him.
“But let’s get back to this talk radio stuff,” said O’Reilly. “These idiots. I mean, they’re misleading you. They’re lying to you. They’re rich, these guys. Big cigars. All of that. ‘Yeah, oh yeah, my private jet!’ And they’re saying, ‘Oh, no! No bail out!’ Uh, uh, no way!
“Hey! You’re going to get it, not them!” O’Reilly continued. “That foreign investment pulls out, we are toast! And they’ll pull out if this bailout doesn’t happen. Are you getting the message here? Walk away from these liars, these right-wing liars. Walk away from them! They’re not looking out for you.”
Mark Levin didn’t like that one bit and actually brought up BillO’s sexual harassment suit. Wow!
“And I’m not talking to some of you backbenchers, and you know who I mean,” said Levin. “These blowhards. You get arrogant, stupid people who get paid a lot of money to be on radio and TV to be arrogant and stupid. And one of them, one of them is on the Fox News Channel, my favorite cable channel. And he has a fledgling radio show that has no ratings, and he’ll be off radio soon because he’s a failure. It’s the non-factor: Bill O’Reilly.
“And he is no conservative,” said Levin. “He’s another mainstream, moron, phony journalist. That’s what he is. And, oh, jealous like hell of Rush Limbaugh. Did you notice that? The cigar and the airplane? Let me tell you something else, jerk. You can’t hold a candle to him.” Your ratings suck.”
“You paid more in hush money for your little phone sex than I’ve ever earned.”
I did notice that.
The detailed reports from the women trying to do business with O’Reilly are compelling. He is an entitled buffoon who seems to think he has a right to demand sex from women in his business. He is a pig and a bully.
His show is a parade of low and mid level analysts trying to get media exposure and earn cash from O’Reilly’s high payroll budget. They kiss the ring and parrot O’Reilly’s opinion — there is no news on the O’Reilly Factor. There is just Bill O’Reilly.
Hopefully Bill decides to “spend more time with his family.” And hopefully they move Tucker to 8pm to take his place.
Yep...for a long time his show aired twice a night (the second being a re-run), and both shows beat out the competition.
I don’t have cable, so I don’t watch him either...but I know his show is the ‘flagship’ of Foxnews’ primetime. This will hurt.
He's not a conservative, by the way...he's old-establishment elite...he's just interested in pulling in extra bucks in his retirement....and he has no fire in the belly for much of anything any more. Could you imagine listening to him for an hour on prime time?
I hope they don't ditch BOR. In the past two years he's come over to the conservative side in many ways, plus he's a long time friend of the President. He's most-watched on the cables and he scores many conservative points every night on such issues as immigration, Kate's law, law and order, etc.
It's not a coincidence that O'R is being put on "vacation" for two weeks and the fact that I posted here a couple days ago that Bill will be toast because he's been 'marked, isolated and targeted' by the time-worn Alinsky tactics of the Left. The Left is VERY successful at this technique. It knows it can roll over any potential cowardly defenders who try to stand up to defend the targeted mark...and I knew the hierarchy of the Fox corporation would ultimately bow and buckle to the assault on it from the Left......plus the pressure from its scores of liberal advertisers.
The forty-something Murdoch brothers are lefties....and their father gave them the responsibility last year of running the day-to-day operation of the Fox network....so things don't look too good for O'Reilly. I'm ticked !

Hume is a good anchor. Not commentator. He should have been hired by the other networks because e has credibility, but they hired idiot its to read and look stupid.
How about Judge Jannine, Monica Crowley, Kimberly Gilfoil, Laura Ingram or Michelle Milken.
