Amid rising complaints that his aides are saying different things about Syria and that his policy is confusing, President Trump emphatically cleared the air Tuesday.
“We’re not going into Syria,” he told me in an exclusive interview. “Our policy is the same, it hasn’t changed. We’re not going into Syria.”
The president, speaking by phone, called Syrian president Bashar al-Assad a “butcher” and a “barbarian” for using sarin gas on his own people, but said last week’s successful missile strike on an air base there was not the start of a campaign to oust the dictator.
“Our big mission is getting rid of ISIS,” Trump said. “That’s where it’s always been. But when you see kids choking to death, you watch their lungs burning out, we had to hit him and hit him hard.”

We already have special forces in Syria training “Syrian rebels”....at least according to a news source that reported the thwarting that al-Quaeda suicide attack yesterday. Does that mean we’re not falling for McGrahamnesty’s call for 7,000 additional boots?
Simple Steps to Resolve Syrian/MiddleEastern Crisis:
1. Remove the brutal secular dictator.
2. Find a secular dictator with heart as his replacement.
3. Defeat religious extremists.
4. Create a safe zone.
5. Return the refugees.
6. Find out that the the secular dictator turns out heartless.
Rinse and repeat Step 1.

This reminds me of Rex “April Glaspie” Tillerson’s comment mere days before “Assad” hurt the beautiful babies.
Good. We have no business clearing Assad out of the way for the Gulf States and Saudi Arabia so they can build their pipeline.
You missed the out important step:
“Click your heels together three times.”
Israel is the most modern and democratic country in the Middle East, but if they want Assad gone..?

I think we all at times forget a basic fact about the troubles in Syria. At the heart of it is the Alawite/Shiite and Sunni clash that has been going on for centuries. And with Assad's Alawite/Shiite group being in the minority in Syria, that makes the Sunnis that much more unhappy.
I heard one commentator this week say that a saying of the Syrian Sunnis is: "Shiites to the wall, Christians to Lebanon." And, of course, Assad and his father haven't been too kind to the Sunnis.
Whatever else his happening in Syria, that old ancient clash is probably the biggest part of the civil war. I've no idea if a good solution is possible.

He needs to put a muzzle on Niki Haley, though, what she said sure doesn't fit with this statement from Trump.
Or, if it does, I don't see how.
