US Chief Justice Roberts decries "partisan hostility"

The “partisan hostility” surrounding the confirmation of Justice Neil Gorsuch is of concern because it could undermine public confidence in the apolitical nature of the judicial system, U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts said Tuesday at a college appearance in upstate New York.

The appearance a day after Gorsuch was sworn in by President Donald Trump at the White House was billed as a conversation with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute President Shirley Ann Jackson. Jackson talked with Roberts onstage before about 1,200 students, faculty and guests, some of whom asked him questions. […]

“We in the judiciary do not do our business in a partisan, ideological manner,” Roberts said. “The new justice is not a Republican or a Democrat; he’s a member of the Supreme Court. But it’s hard for people to understand that when they see the process that leads up to it.” …

Judges insisting they are apolitical is about as credible as the press claiming to be objective.

I don’t perceive blackmail. I perceive collusion.

Besides, actual conservatives cannot be blackmailed.

It took an amendment to tax income but apparently none to “tax” not complying with a Regulation ... something that is actually a “fine” and for which there should be due process received.

If the liberals had the Supreme Court, it would be lights out for the US. That is what a killary President would have meant.

I do know and know of judges who are nonpolitical in their thinking and conduct as judges, but they are a minority.

The justice system is apolitical? On what planet?

I supported the confirmation of this dork. To my everlasting shame.

“One more justice with integrity, and the rule of law side will have an advantage.”

I have serious doubts that the judiciary, filled with treasonous black-robe commies and fascists, is redeemable. These traitors have been voting against the American people and their constitution for 50 years. And the kicker, which is hard to swallow, is that the US Congress refuses to impeach and remove these black-robe traitors.

Somebody needs to clue Roberts in to the fact that the judiciary has been politicized for a very, very long time. Has he never heard of FDR’s attempts to pack the court? How about what happened to Judge Bork? Yes, I think we are in hyper partisan times when the divide is worse than ever, but the court has never been free of politics.

How did this moron get on the Court? Any cupcake with two neurons knows it’s political all the way.

This man is blind and deaf to all that is around him. You have to be a fool to believe that Democrat judges are not politically biased.

Wonder what Obama “unmasked” on his surveillance?

A thorough check of Robert's cell phone revealed this...

After the poorly reasoned and decided Obamacare fiasco, I thought he, Chief Justice Roberts, was a crook and a pervert.
Now, it become clear, he is just another lying dimwit.
It really is difficult to read his drivel.

George W. Bush appointed him, to replace Sandra Day O’Connor who had retired. He got nominated as Chief Justice when William Rehnquist died.

He gets perceived as “conservative” because his name was on a brief during George H.W. Bush’s presidency that urged the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade. However, during his nomination hearings, he called Roe “the settled law of the land”.

Somebody yanking his chain again with incidental surveillance?

When cross dresser J Edgar Hoover ran the FBI, he would send an FBI agent over to Capital Hill and have him throw some pictures down of the Congressman, or Senator or whoever and the message went, these pictures fell into our hands and show that last week you had an encounter that showed maybe less than good judgement.

Senator, next time you should be more careful. It would be bad if these pictures fell into the wrong hands. From then on, Hoover's FBI owned this politician.

If Hussein Obama was illegally "wiretapping" Donald Trump and his gang, what did Hussein's band of criminals have on Roberts?

Did they find out about an affair with another lawyer?

Did they find out that maybe Roberts cheated on his taxes a few years ago?

Is Roberts out like John Podesta with a pizza/hot dog fetish?

Hussein probably owned Roberts and Mr. Supreme Court Judge would have danced naked in a bar to keep the world from finding out his secrets. Tax or fine for Obamacare? Whatever you want Mr. Hussein.

That ship sailed last year with Merrick Garland. We're just going to have to live with it.
