Moscow's announcement comes as the new U.S. administration is considering moving the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, thereby recognizing the city as Israel's capital.
Israel declared Jerusalem its capital in 1950, but Russia is the first nation to recognize it as such, according to The Jerusalem Post.
Long-standing U.S. policy has called for the status of Jerusalem to be resolved by the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

Kinda sorta. Half of Jerusalem.
In other news, replacement theologian bobble heads are exploding.
The promises and calling of God are irrevocable. The purpose of Israel is to progress on to Christ. Which most modern Jewry hoots at, but it’s not all their fault they don’t hear good theology.
Do you ever get the feeling that the GLOBALIST are being tagged teamed by Putin and Trump?
WOW!
“kinda sorta. Half of Jerusalem.”
********************************
So, assuming he actually moves it, on which side of Jerusalem will President Trump physically locate the American Embassy — West Jerusalem, as the Russians plan on doing, or East Jerusalem?
Well somebody's playing 11 dimensional chess. Wonder how the Syrians and Iranians are going to take the news. And the Arabs.
It’s gotta go somewhere. The point I think is how the city is spoken of. Will Russia just call it Jerusalem? Will they echo Reagan’s “Tear down this wall”? Pretty sure the USA will.
Read the article carefully. It’s a trick title.
Trump says “undivided Jerusalem”.
Absolutely. The world has a chance to be at a turning point. Putin is not a good guy, but he is no Globalist.
Both Putin and Trump are nationalists who understand that other people are entitled to be nationalists as well. I have no problem with this. I think there is zero chance that Putin will invade Europe. I think there is zero chance that Putin will attack the US. I see Putin as an ally to the US, if Trump is President.
It would be ballsy for Trump to locate it in East Jerusalem. But I’m betting he locates it in West Jerusalem. If he actually moves it.
Very interesting if true
What Russia said was that they wanted a two state solution with west Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and east Jerusalem as the capital of the new Palestinian state.
That ain’t gonna work
Self interest is a powerful force.
If the US, Russia and China ever get together and decide terrorism is bad for business, it will be the end of terrorism.
It does not have to be, but it may also be the end of Islam.
The nations in the middle exist only exist as long as the west (and now perhaps the east) allow them to exist. The nations of the middle east have played the US and Russia (Soviet Union) against each other. It was a wicked and mean game, but they (the Muslims) never for saw the day the two nations would decide it was in their best interest to co-operate.
The Muslim nations are at a cross road. Get control of the extremest working below the surface or face annihilation.
All it is going to take is one WMD going off in a western nation. It will make the response to 9/11 look like a walk in the park.
At least that is my opinion, I may be wrong
:^)

Damn.... A rational statement about Islam on Free Republic
I agree. It will be a challenge, but Trump, Putin and Xi might find a way to seek common cause and pull the rug out from under the Muslims.
If Russia says this east-west Jerusalem split is predicated on Israel accepting a two state solution, that means that 53% of the Israeli settlers have to get out of the occupied territories and accept pre 67 borders.
If you look at the official numbers, there are 400,000 Israeli settlers in the west bank and 300,000-350,000 in east Jerusalem.
We already have a consulate/mission in East Jerusalem. Our diplomats are not accredited to Israel and are not under the authority of the US Ambassador in Tel Aviv. We consider East Jerusalem to be occupied territory. US policy is that the status of Jerusalem must be decided as part of the overall negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians. Until then Tel Aviv remains the capital.
