One might reflexively think so, but the anti-ship variant of the Kalibr cruise missile is nothing to f**k with. As the anti-ship variant of the Kalibr, code named SIZZLER, closes on a ship, it goes into evasive maneuvering, accelerates up to Mach 3 and dives to an altitude of about 15-20 feet. Oh, by the way, it has a range of about 250 to 400 miles and carries a shaped warhead of almost 1,000 lbs.

I wouldn’t want to be on ANY ship with a round like that inbound...

The TASS source portrayed this as less of an emergency response and more of a scheduled deployment, saying it is expected to remain off Syria’s shores for “more than a month.”

Let’s hope and pray this is true!

Yeah, we were on the wrong side of that conflict for sure. The muzzies ran wild in Kosovo after we did a Wag the Dog.

“God almighty——I dreaded hearing the news this morning——this is worse than I expected.”

Are you kidding?

What were you feeling last year when Russian jets were flying near our boats.

This stuff happens all the time.

From Daily Mail: Vladimir Putin has today diverted a warship to protect the Syrian coast and vowed to bolster Bashar al-Assad’s missile defences against further US strikes

Or in other words, "Sorry Assad, we just couldn't get there in time, but we're here for as long as we can afford it."

The dogs of war have been unleashed. I said yesterday this was not going to end well. You don’t start a war you are not willing to win. And you don’t launch missiles against a sovereign nation that you are not prepared to go to war with.

There is no question but that the attack yesterday can be considered an act of war against Syria and its allies. We didn’t take too kindly to the Japs attacking one of our military bases.

We were neither threatened nor attacked by Syria. This was an unwarranted unilateral attack. It could conceivably lead to a shooting war with Russia.

To put it in twitter terms: Big Mistake.

20 FIGHTERS that were being used to kill McCain’s “moderates” and ISIS and other jihadis.

That’s just great.

IF Israel and W Europe were so upset, why did WE have to send the missiles?

And who here cried when chemical weapons were used in the Iran/Iraq war?

And even if he did use them, I didn’t know we were at war with them.

As for making a statement to China, lobbing missiles at a third world country’s air base, a country which in NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM can retaliate is a LOT different than doing something against China or NK with its TEN THOUSAND artillery pieces pointed at SK.

Don't forget that our President is a genius and plays 3 d chess.

Given the tone and tenor of so many replies here over the past day or two, I'm going to assume that this is sarcasm. The "3D Chess" thing gets on my nerves, too, a little too reminiscent of "strategy." But, regarding the intelligence of Donald Trump, look back over the past year and a half. Look at what he's managed to pull off. This is not a stupid or naive man. Clearly very intelligent. Genius? Time will tell, I suppose. A lot of "genius" is in actually succeeding. Nobody cares for brilliant failures. Well, outside of Tesla.

It was the canteen that really pissed them off.

The U.S. Navy calls it the Geedunk. Destroying the snack bar is fightin’ stuff. Same thing if a golf course at a USAF base was attacked. ;)
