Accident Theory in Syria Attack 'Fanciful': Experts
Al Monitor ^ | April 6, 2017

Chemical weapons experts have thrown doubt on Russian claims the attack that killed more than 80 civilians in rebel-held Syria could have been caused by an air strike on a "warehouse" containing toxic agents.

The Syrian regime's ally Russia has sought to deflect an international outcry aimed at Damascus by claiming that Syrian air strikes had hit a warehouse where "toxic substances" were stored and that they were released by the explosion.

Olivier Lepick, a French expert with decades of experience of chemical weapons, told AFP on Thursday that the theory advanced by the Russians was "completely fanciful".

That is a sick and crazy invention in your head.

We won WW2 :)

What an intelligent reply. Just what one would expect from a neocon, globalist troll.

Very interesting that someone who lives in Germany would advise someone to stick their head in an oven. But, the irony is probably lost on you.

I’m sure you also support Merkel & the fascist EU.

BTW, if those kids were gassed, why were the so-called Doctors & aid workers not wearing protective equipment? Why were they immune to the effects?

If you hate Assad so much, why don’t you go take him out yourself?

We are going to blow Assad’s ass off. :)

I invented nothing in my head. You posted the above. In a serious matter that may end up costing American service men and women their lives you thought a little smiley face would be appropriate as you rooted for our forces to be sent into battle. You might be able to get away with your humor when it comes to American lives over there in Germany but you'll be smiling through your gums if you try that crap over here.

One more thing: Your support of ISIS is noted.

Sure, except I am the one against allowing people to be gassed while you are OK with doing nothing.

As for your “false flag”?

President Trump says you are Stupid (and probably a Clown too).

President Trump wants Assad out and promised to wipeout ISIS, whom we are fighting against right now. Learn about that which you post about.

Read that one liner quote again and then all the crazy inventions you attribute to it.

OK good night.
Sorry being a decent American against people being gassed was upsetting to some people. I guess.

You seem to find a lot of humor in death. Do you still see yourself as an American - or has the continental sophistication rubbed off on you to the point where you see simple American traits like honoring the dead, even our dead enemies, as foolishness?

It’s a deep sleeper. When we took Dan Rather down, we gained the Globalist’s attention and they reserved quite a few FReeper screennames here.

Thank you for the info. I was having a hard time remaining civil with that one. I’ll just ignore him from here on out.

Number One: Assad DID NOT gas anyone. I doubt anyone was gassed.

Number Two: It’s NONE OF OUR BUSINESS!!

So sick of these stupid, moronic neocon wars. So sick of the US military fighting Saudi Arabia’s battles.

Whatever it is, it probably isn’t a nerve agent. That stuff is very deadly although some of it is engineered to dissipate and breakdown quickly. Chlorine is more likely.

Yes, here are the two competing theories cited in the article:

#1. Aerosolization theory: The expert said the way the agent was dispersed, according to witnesses in the northwestern town of Khan Sheikhun, was consistent with an phenomenon known as aerosolization.

Such an effect can only be caused by a military-grade chemical weapon and cannot be provoked by an accidental explosion, Lepick said.

"When you look at the areas of impact and the way people have been affected, you can see clearly that this is a munition that has been designed to deliver a chemical agent, in other words to produce an explosion, with a high degree of aerosolization," he said.

"In other words, it was the most effective way of dispersing the chemical agent."

If an airstrike had hit a warehouse where the toxic agent was being stored, it would have created a "toxic cloud", but the agent would not have been effectively dispersed into the air, he said.

#2. Explosion theory: However, Julien Legros, a researcher at France's national scientific research centre (CNRS) said he believed the Russian theory was not "out of the question".

He argued that it was theoretically possible that the contents of the toxic agent were stored in the same barrel and an explosion caused by an air strike could have caused a chemical reaction which turned the gas into a toxic gas.

A large part of the substance would have b een destroyed in such a strike, "but if even 10 percent of it had become vapour, that 10 percent would have been deadly".

"If 10 milligrammes is enough to kill a person and you have 10 percent of a tonne, then you have more than enough to kill several hundred people," he said.

President Trump wants Assad out and promised to wipeout ISIS...

I hope that Trump is smart enough to know that if you reach for 2 separate objectives you won't reach either. He's very close to taking ISIS off the board. Finish the job. Then worry about Assad. After all the Russians have Assad's back. It's going to take something other than direct US military action to eliminate him.

I note that the way the first theory is being publicized assumes that only Assad could have access to weaponized sarin. That assumption would need to be demonstrated. I recall hearing multiple reports that Iraq moved sarin to Syria in 2003 (interesting in retrospect to note that Clapper was involved in this investigation, as the link mentions); but there have also been reports that ISIS obtained Sarin; so that seems to put the argument back to Square One, in the absence of additional information.
