This is short term thinking. What happens if a Dem becomes president?

Not having the Safety Exit of a filibuster will make voters THINK TWICE about electing a Dem as President IMHO. Voters must now LIVE with the CONSEQUENCES of their VOTE!

The commie Rats started this fight. Good to see the GOP finish it.
Maybe now the GOP will wake up to the fact that we are in an undeclared civil war and the Constitution is at stake.

“I’m not breathing easily, yet. We still have to wait for the vote, and there are still far too many RINOs in the Senate...’

There most likely won’t be a single GOP defection. Gorsuch is taking the place vacated by Scalia. It takes less courage to maintain the status quo than to upend it. None of the moderate GOPers have objected to Gorsuch. Afatk, he may not even be as conservative as Scalia. That will make this an easy vote for them.

SO it is official or does Trump need to sign it?

This is an internal Senate matter. Senate rules are the business of the Senate. No one else is involved. It's about time they killed that beast.

I’ve heard that too. We can probably expect Thomas to retire sometime between now and 2020.

Nothing ever stopped the Democraps from appointing left-wing justices, so the point is merely “academic”....

Ginsburg, Kagan, Sontamayor.... were confirmed with comity, civility, and “bi-partisan” support. It is only the filthy ‘rats who ever seriously contest SCOTUS nominations on political or ideological grounds.

Getting rid of the sordid filibuster is nothing but a plus for our nation.

No Republican is going to vote to end the filibuster and not vote for Gorsuch. Plus, three Dems in red states pledged to vote for him.

Republicans knew what Kagan, Sotomayor, and Ginsburg were and didn’t stop them. A rule that’s only used by the other side does not help us.

Don't forget that this will cut both ways. If Republicans lose the presidency and the majority in the senate, the Democrats will be able to similarly ram their Supreme Court nominees through in the same manner.

This statement is accurate, but meaningless. There would never be a need for Democrats to ram a Supreme Court nominee through a confirmation process because Republicans have never shown any intent to use a filibuster to block such a nomination anyway.

The good news is, if the Democrats retake the Senate they can reinstitute the 60 Vote Filibuster.

This will give Thomas a chance to retire and replace a couple of elder libs.

Hopefully, Kennedy will retire this summer.

We wouldn’t have held serve if McConnell didn’t hold tough on Merrick Garland not getting a vote.

The DUmmies are already chattering that if they retake the Senate, Job One will be to impeach Gorsuch.

So you see, you are just never done with these clowns.

there's no question that the democrats would have done this had Hillary won. Tim Kaine said as much.

McCain, Graham, etc wouldn’t vote for the nuclear option unless the vote itself was 100% guaranteed.
