Sen. Rand Paul: Montenegro Joining NATO Is Against U.S. Interests
Time ^ | Mar 30, 2017 | Sen. Rand Paul

Posted on 04/01/2017 3:47:40 PM PDT by Trump20162020

President Donald Trump said in his inaugural address: “We’ve defended other nation’s borders, while refusing to defend our own.”

I couldn’t agree more.

Today, the question is: Will we add yet another commitment to defend yet another foreign country?

For decades, NATO has been an organization where the U.S. disproportionately spends our blood and treasure. The other NATO countries have largely hitched a ride to the U.S. train that subsidizes their defenses and allows them to direct their revenues to domestic pursuits.

Adding a country with fewer than 2,000 soldiers to NATO is not in our self-interest. There is no national security interest that an alliance with Montenegro will advance. If we invite Montenegro into NATO, it will be a one-way street with the U.S. committing to defend yet another country.

What a joke!

On a map it appears Montenegro is closer to Madrid than it is to Moscow. Where is the threat coming from that it needs NATO.?

I’ve read this before, and he makes perfect sense. He has actually helped Trump policies more than some republicans, but on this forum people don’t like him be cause he is libertarian.

Hey, listen, I am tapped out too... I’m just reminding everyone how the Clinton Administration SCREWED our ally.

Montenegro? Really?

Yes, really, when John McCain is just recently throwing hissy fits on the Senate floor about speeding up Montenegro's admission into NATO.

Let's state the obvious, Montenegro is not close to Russia, and putin won't hesitate to kill for political or personal financial benefits. Like so many schoolyard bullies, he has a fan base of fawning admirers, the quislings of our time. And granted some of these fans are sincere dupes who cannot figure out that a great Christian leader doesn't do the things putin does. Much of Europe is scared of putin and clings to the idea that there are those who help maintain freedom and sovereignty in the world. Increasingly, that is not true. The spirit of freedom is dying even among some US conservatives, unless it's easy. In spirit, they're defeated.

Montenegro made a big mistake by believing in the West. Men like Rand Paul will assure they realize it. Men like putin, the gangster statesman, will continue to punish them for thinking they could do something outside his orbit. The rise of the strong authoritarian is being assisted by the right wing cranks and weirdos the same way communism had its fellow travelers. See the link for one indicator of how president for life putin operates.

You're right. Montenegro is far from Moscow. But it belongs to putin because he says so.

>Let’s state the obvious, Montenegro is not close to Russia, and putin won’t hesitate to kill for political or personal financial benefits.

Just like Hillary. Though unlike Hillary Putin’s been successful in improving Russia and Hillary’s destroyed everything she’s ever touched.

>Like so many schoolyard bullies, he has a fan base of fawning admirers, the quislings of our time.

And you supported that murdering bitch Hillary Clinton, you #nevertrumper. You are nothing more than a quisling to our entire cause. You disgust me.

>Much of Europe is scared of putin and clings to the idea that there are those who help maintain freedom and sovereignty in the world.

Bullcrap. If Europe was actually afraid of Putin they wouldn’t spend so much time insulting and attacking him while keeping their militaries pitifully weak. The truth is they don’t fear Putin in the slightest.

>Increasingly, that is not true. The spirit of freedom is dying even among some US conservatives, unless it’s easy. In spirit, they’re defeated.

Freedom like we delivered to the Libyans? Freedom like we delivered to the Ukrainians? Not only do they have Neo-Nazi’s running killing people for giggles but as a condition of western aid they have to put on gay pride parades and brainwash their children about how awesome butt sex is. I don’t know if they started feeding their kids drugs to turn girls into boys and boys into girls yet, but I’m sure it’s coming soon. If that’s your freedom, then you can shove that “freedom” where the sun don’t shine.

Nope. Won’t fly. Rand is foolish to, once again, get sidetracked.

This is PRECISELY why he can never be presidential material. Always dealing with the trivial at the expense of the titanic. He should be focusing everything on the snooping, as this was his (correct) hobby horse for years.

You are crazed, over-the-top insane.According to you, Soros -- a *GENUINE* VILLAIN -- is merely a 'useful tool' for Putin supporters.

Did Putin rape you as a child or something.

I suppose he can do no wrong in your eyes. You're indifferent to the victims and many people he persecutes. I don't think he'd have to rape you. You sound willing to embrace him.
