VACCINE SKEPTICS RALLY IN D.C. TODAY AT A PROTEST HEADLINED BY ROBERT F. KENNEDY JR.
Newsweek ^ | 3-31-2017 | Jessica Wapner

Posted on 04/01/2017 6:49:38 AM PDT by azkathy

Vaccine fears are on display today in Washington, D.C. A group called Revolution for Truth is leading an anti-vaccine event that includes a rally outside the National Press Club and talks by at least 15 speakers. The day will culminate with a speech by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an outspoken opponent to vaccines and founder of the World Mercury Project. The stated purpose of the event is to protest the biased media coverage, exploitation by the pharmaceutical industry and government protection that, the group says, perpetuate the use of what it says are dangerous inoculations.

Several dozen people gathered outside the National Press Club this morning, protecting protest signs with umbrellas. “Safety before profit,” said one sign. “Children I love suffer serious vaccine injuries,” said another. “Our children are not lab rats,” read yet another. Rally leaders with a megaphone led chants of “CNN, tell the truth! CDC, tell the truth! No vaccine mandates! No more lies!”

Many signs and chants called for a government subpoena of William Thompson, a psychologist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Thompson was part of the CDC research team that investigated whether thimerosal-containing vaccines were linked to an increased incidence of autism. Following an interview by Andrew Wakefield, the British doctor known for his role in fueling the widely embraced belief that vaccines cause autism, Thompson became suspected of omitting data linking vaccines and autism in black children from the published CDC study.

Meanwhile, on a rain-soaked sidewalk outside the National Press Club, one sign summarized the conspiracy that many anti-vaccine protesters believe is behind the continued administration of vaccines to children: “Med-Pharma compensates government that mandates; doctor vaccinates; child deteriorates; Congress obfuscates. Subpoena Dr. Thompson! #CDCWhistleblower.”

I agree with Mike Adams, but his statements are not what the discussion is about. Vaccines are mostly produced by private companies, like the ones that make most everything in your home and garage. The focus here is on the 100s of millions of human and animal lives saved by vaccines. The headline speaker comes from a dynasty of crooked demrats, JFK junior, a shyster of a lawyer if ever there was one. Oddly, the freepers here are lapping up his bilge as if it were some delicacy rife with knowledge.

Yikes. Now they can’t even wait to poison the baby until it is born, and have to stab it with their needle while it is still in the womb? The depths of evil know no bounds.

Excuse me, but from what swamp did you dredge that piece of garbage? I was talking about vaccines, not methods that abortionists use to kill babies.

When a pregnant woman is vaccinated against a disease, her body responds by producing antibodies that recognize the organisms that cause that disease. Those antibodies cross the placenta into the baby and protect that baby against those same diseases for a few weeks. Pertussis is a very serious disease for babies, which can leave them severely brain damaged or even kill them. Public health experts are rightly concerned about protecting those infants, and vaccination of their mothers during pregnancy is one of the ways used to protect them.

Finally, comments from another scientist. Thank you mom.

Any time!

I make it a point to debunk these threads whenever they come up. It seems they have been less numerous lately than they have in the past (maybe because of my efforts?). I will continue to debunk them, since the anti-vax movement is dangerous.

And you are correct, I am a scientist, of the PhD variety.

Researchers have identified a number of genes associated with autism. Studies of people with autism have found irregularities in several regions of the brain. Other studies suggest that people with autism have abnormal levels of serotonin or other neurotransmitters in the brain. These abnormalities indicate that autism usually results from the disruption of normal brain development early in fetal development caused by defects in genes that control brain growth and that regulate how neurons communicate with each other. Were these children vaccinated during fetal development. I don’t think so.

I have also seen some evidence in the scientific literature that autism can result from febrile illness during pregnancy. Once researchers figure out what is going on, the story will probably be complicated, with a lot of contributing factors. Autism is genetic, yes, but the severity of the condition is almost certainly affected by environmental factors--such as high fever affecting brain development during critical times of fetal development.

I’m glad to know that you agree with M. Adams thoughts.
He and many others also know that large private companies work in collusion with the Feds....one example being Big Pharma (another example would be phone/internet companies).

I tend to believe that the vaccines years ago probably did save some human lives. My own uncle died at age 4 because his (legal) immigrant mother spoke no English, was working at the time, and missed getting her child the shot. She was unaware of what she needed to know. He contracted small pox and died. This was many many years ago.

However, seeing what is in the vaccines now and the increase in the number and frequency of administration, coupled with the Elite’s depopulation schemes, I am of a different mind. I believe they are not what they may have been, and are administered for a different purpose.

Continuing to disparage Freepers who agree with RFK’s vaccine stance contributes to a less than amicable atmosphere, which, of course, is your choice. I haven’t previously directly responded to your statements wrt RFK & Freepers who agree with him on this issue, but I will do so now:

I hold no affection for RFK or any Kennedy, or any other commie. I listen to the substance of what people say, and believe it or not, I find that on rare occasions what they say may be correct.

I liken this to how President Trump listened closely to what Bernie Sanders was saying, and found that he actually agreed with some of what he said: ex. Trade. Sanders was just too stupid not realize that the solution to trade inequity was not communism. IOW, his diagnosis was correct, but his recommended treatment would have been a colossal failure.

So while I find RFK and all libs/commies to largely miss the mark wrt mostly everything, I will not be reticent to agree with them on the few occasions when they may be correct.

I have learned (thanks to other FReepers) that there are two Mike Adams. One is a kook purveyor of pseudoscience and medical quackery, including anti-vax hokum. The other is a college professor who writes a political/social column. I like the college professor Mike Adams and enjoy reading his columns.

Did they control for difference in experiences? To link vaccine use to dementia is ignoring too many variables; one could just as easily, looking at your post, argue that military vets are more likely to suffer dementia compared to civilians.

You are one foul statist piece of work.

48 states recognize conscience and/or medical exemptions. Most recognize conscience/religious exemptions. So the law says the exact opposite of your claim. I am not aware of ANY state where child protective agencies can remove children from parents with valid exemptions.

Thank you for posting your information.

I believe a very important component in the vaccine debate lies in the fact that more and more citizens simply no longer believe in their gov’t and large corporations are benign. People’s confidence is increasingly absent, and gov’t./corporations’ credibility is perhaps at an all time low. And once trust is lost, it is very difficult to regain, if ever.

It is with this in mind that research findings are increasingly dismissed as bought/manipulated/and outright falsified.

We have two distinctly polar views of this Mike Adams.

You couldn’t be more extreme in your accusations, or more offensive.

NOTHING you say will EVER change my mind to yours, and likewise, nothing you read from the “other” camp will ever persuade you. I guess it is a standoff, where ne’er the twain shall meet. No point in me engaging in any further discussion.

So now you are calling me a pro-abort? FYI, I lump anti-vaxxers and pro-aborts together--they both have the same goal of increasing child death.

Bill Gates pushes vaccines because he knows that parents whose children do not die choose to have fewer children and to put their resources into raising the children they do have. He is aware that when the majority of children die young, their parents put their resources into having a lot of children because they hope to have at least two reach reproductive age. The fact that people have fewer children when the children they do have actually survive has been observed in every first world country in the world.

If you know that 70% of your children will die before the age of five, you will have several children in order to ensure that two or three live to adulthood.

If you know that 95% of your children will live to adulthood, you will have two or three and put all your resources into their upbringing.

Bill Gates' statements have been (purposely) misrepresented by anti-vaxxers, but he supports vaccine programs because they save lives.

Sorry I didn’t respond in a timely fashion. I have four kids and a mom with Alzheimer’s so I’m not always on FR.

You may be surprised to find that I’m not in disagreement with a single one of your autism statements. All of those things are scientifically proven to be significant risks for autism. I don’t only just agree; the risks you named are proven by scientific method.

Nevertheless, it is impossible to have a genetic epidemic.

We look into our current environment for the factor(s) to which genetic and other risks are added.

Knowledge of the influence of our bacterial symbiosis has increased asymptotically since cracking the genome code and we are only beginning to understand that an individual’s biome plays a huge role in his immune system.

In some ways, regardless of their medical training, many doctors are practicing medicine in semi darkness without full understanding of how / who / what our immune system really works.

The simple fact is that I am a scientist, and that I hold those who push pseudo-science in utter contempt. They are pure scum who do not care about the lives they ruin and cut short with their quackery.

I cannot stop those who embrace pseudoscience from believing in quackery, but I *can* counter the lies and (hopefully) deter them from spreading their nonsense.

That you are a scientist is very nice but carries no weight with me. Hopefully, like “global warming”, any that you hope to deter will also have the common sense and awareness to discount “science”.

I hold those who push what I consider to be the advancement of depopulation vaccine programs to be “pure scum who do not care about the lives they ruin and cut short” with their murderous vaccines.

That is an outright lie propagated by the anti-vaxx hoaxers.

***********************************************************
Not true, vaccines are not required to go through long term safety studies with real salt water-based placebos.
Most vaccine studies use another vaccine as the control placebo, or use the background substance of the vaccine.

This just came up again recently regarding a Gardasil safety study.

“The physician group also pointed out that the “placebo” used in Merck’s pre-licensure Gardasil safety trials contained two of the vaccine’s ingredients, including aluminum, instead of being a true saline solution”

The interesting thing for me (as an engineer who worked in the pharma field), is why are we suddenly seeing a surge in autism cases. When you suddenly detect a signal, you ask what changed? Sometimes it is that you started looking for the signal. I have seen kids labeled as "autistic" who were more than likely introverts. I have also seen large school systems over diagnose for it, looking for money (it happened at my wife's school where she teaches). However, everyone has their mind made up. I had lunch recently with a Canadian who blamed autism on pasteurized milk, and a vegan who blamed it on processed cheese. Neither one was going to listen.

That may have been true at one time, but the numbers keep going up every year. At this point you would expect to see at least a plateau.
I know everyone has there own opinion what is causing it. They can quote different studies to support their conclusions, but there is one thing that they can’t explain away.
It’s the tens of thousands of parents that say there child was developing normal until they received a certain vaccine. Usually the MMR shot.

I’m sorry, but parents, especially new parents are very aware of every milestone and whether their child is on track.

Most of their stories are pretty much the same.

Many of these children started high pitch screaming, had high fevers, seizures, lost speech, lost balance, lost eye contact, and started the classic head bang.
The doctors will fully admit these can be an adverse reaction to the vaccine.

However, they will also stand there and tell them to their face that it caused no permanent damage, and they just didn’t notice before that their child had autism.

Or better yet, this is age that autism shows up, and it’s just a coincidence that that it happened at the same time as the shot.

There can be adverse reactions to vaccines. A local family had one of their twin girls become paralyzed and catatonic because of a vaccine (they think she had a bladder infection before the shot).

However, I have seen, and dealt with, kids who were labeled autistic who were what I joking call “Young engineers”. Introverts, highly technical, who don’t really care much about social interaction. In other words, 90% of the people I went to college with in engineering. We were just “engineers” then, we would be labeled on the autism spectrum now.

Now, there are kids who do have issues that need addressing, but to label a boy who loves scifi, can rattle off the names of every dinosaur, and is awkward with others “Autistic” is a horrible thing to do. That places the boy in a neat little box, and will hamper their development. A boy who twenty years ago would move to a STEM field is instead pushed to special ed.
