Hannity sides with Freedom Caucus over Trump
The Hill ^ | 31 Mar 2017 | Joe Concha

Posted on 03/31/2017 1:52:57 PM PDT by VitacoreVision

Fox News host Sean Hannity sided with the Freedom Caucus on Thursday in its feud with President Trump, saying he didn’t think the conservative lawmakers were at fault for last week's failure of the GOP healthcare bill.

“Now, in my opinion, it’s not the Freedom Caucus that's responsible for the GOP failure in this case to repeal and replace ObamaCare,” Hannity, a vocal supporter of Trump, said on his prime-time program.

“Now, this legislation was flawed from the beginning. It was created behind closed doors. Not one single member saw the bill until it was rolled out. And that made it a disaster,” he said.

After House leaders pulled the bill, Trump called members of the Freedom Caucus “friends of mine.”

But he has since attacked members of the group, which he has publicly blamed for the repeal effort's failure.

In a series of tweets, Trump threatened to back primary challenges against members and targeted three top Freedom Caucus leaders by name.

In rare criticism of the president, Hannity said that Trump's anger was “misplaced.”

“Now I don't know who's telling the White House to focus their anger on the Freedom Caucus, but I do think it's misplaced," Hannity said. "Because the Freedom Caucus, I've talked to them, they want to make a deal, and they want the win for the president and the country.”

Many Freedom Caucus members opposed the GOP bill, as did a number of centrist Republican lawmakers.

I support Trump and the Freedom Caucus.

In this case, however, I side with the Freedom Caucus.

I blame Ryan primarily, Trump secondarily, although I can understand why he wanted the bill to pass, and I also wanted the bill to pass even though it stunk, I blame the FC for failing to make it crystal clear to the damn leader early on that hey, if you don’t do it right and proper, it’s going to go nowhere.

And I say that last part because the entire GOP looks like a bunch of fools after this.

How embarrassing.

Okay, now that all blame has been assigned, forget about it and get this sh*t done, you morons.

That’s what happens when you have a president with no ideological base. I expect a lot more of conservatives being scapegoated over the next 4 years

I love Trump but may I say respectfully, I think he has a lot to learn.

I pray that God will give President Trump wisdom beyond himself and may he rely on Your wisdom and strength to stand for and do what needs to be done, in Jesus name. Amen.

I wouldn’t say Trump has “no ideological base” but I would say he’s on a steep learning curve.

I know he loves America but his vision needs higher definition and clarity.

The Freedom Caucus doesn’t have one accomplishment. Trump is holding everyone accountable. If everyone is left to run wild nothing will ever get done. Hannity needs to read the art of the deal.

Does anyone think Trump cares what Hannity thinks he should do?

Or the millions of Trump voters who agree with Hannity?

I too was shocked and angry about what Trump has done to conservatives about healthcare.

Lets leave the HFC off the table for a moment. You might love them. You might hate them.

But none of this matters to Trump.

Trump is an Ideologue. It’s all about the numbers to him. Which side can make Trump look good?

Is it 30 nobodies in the HFC? (Only 18 of which are on the record of opposing TrumpCare).

Or is it the 200 plus House Repubs who favor TrumpCare?

Once I realized these facts - it became a no-brainer to me why Trump has blasted the HFC with tweet after bitter tweet this week.

He’d rather fight with 200 RINO’s on his side than with 18 HFC goobers.

Are Trump’s promises to be as hollow as Obama’s?

They had one huge accomplishment last week. They saved the Republican Party from catastrophic losses in 2018 by stopping Obamacare 2.0.

If a bill passes now, it’s going to be better than last week’s.

Laura Ingraham makes a very compelling argument about how it was Freedom Caucus members standing by Trump when Ryan was shunning him.

What does Hannity, who worked so diligently to help elect President Trump, want???
The cancelled health care vote last Friday was only the opening step in a long legislative process to reform our health care system. It would have to proceed through Senate debate and amendments, the conference phase between the two chambers and the coalescing into one final bill voted BEFORE LANDING on the President’s desk.
What happened last week was unacceptable. The Freedom Caucus cost us the inherit tax savings applied through reconciliation—only in effect once a year—and made the rest of Trump’s agenda so much more difficult. Not having the taxes repealed last week will water down tax cuts and tax reform, delay authorization for rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure (along with construction of the border wall),and forestall fortifying our depleted military!!!

Again, I ask, what the hell is Hannity thinking???
Does he want to imperil President Trump’s entire agenda, risk the democrats taking control of Congress next year and, God forbid, make Trump (our LAST HOPE FOR SURVIVAL) a one-termer?????

I am 1000% behind my President and am appalled by the myopia of Hannity and all so-called Conservatives who refuse to recognize what must be done!!!

Worth bearing in mind that the 'Rats always create problems for which they have the ready solution. Health care was purposely messed up PRIOR to ACA, to pave the way for it.

Trump has issued countless E. O.s undoing Obama’s nonsense.

Despite this, he is being trashed right now for having no ideological base.

Excuse me, why would he repeal so much Obama agenda if he has no ideological base?

Damn folks, buy a clue.

I think Hannity might be simply expressing disappointment that Trump bashed the conservstivesany of who who backed him not only in the contentious hateful election but also by saving him from this Obamacare light dog of a bill

Folks, he has issued (most likely) more than 30 E. O.s reversing Obama policy. He has done exactly what we wanted there.

This health care issue isn’t over yet. It may turn out to be what we want by the time it’s done.

Why are some folks going to wobbly?

I’m not happy on the issue of health care either, but perspective. He’s done a tremendous amount for us already, and will undoubtedly do a lot more we want.

How about we wait until we have Obamacare lite voted in and he signs it, before we take it for granted what will be.
