State Department employee charged with spying for China (for last 5 yrs)
Washington Examiner ^ | 3/29/17 | Joel Gehrke

A veteran State Department employee took payments to spy for China over a five-year period, according to Justice Department officials.

Two Chinese intelligence officers handled the employee, who had a top secret clearance, the department said. The staffer, Candace Claiborne, allegedly acknowledged that the officers were "spies," but collaborated with them in exchange for money and tried to hide her connections with them.

"Claiborne used her position and her access to sensitive diplomatic data for personal profit," acting Assistant Attorney General Mary B. McCord said Wednesday. "Pursuing those who imperil our national security for personal gain will remain a key priority of the National Security Division."

The official expected to make as much as $20,000 a year from the illicit work, according to the Justice Department. The spies sent her almost $2,500 in exchange for "internal U.S. government analyses on a U.S.-Sino Strategic Economic Dialogue that had just concluded."

The announcement is the latest example of foreign intelligence operating against the United States. U.S. intelligence officials have been fighting the problem with particular intensity ever since National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden stole millions of documents and fled the country.

The release of a trove of internal CIA documents has raised new fears that WikiLeaks has a human source within the intelligence agency.

"U.S. government employees will be held accountable for failing to honor the trust placed in them when they take on such sensitive assignments," U.S. Attorney Channing Phillips said Wednesday.

We’ll have to see a few pix to see if she’s guilty or not.

This is a really big deal. The Clintons did things like this. But all the MSM can focus on is Russia.

He should have been spying on President Trump. He would not have anything to worry about then. It is probably why he was busted, he was spying for China instead of the Clinton Foundation.

My guess is that the number of Chinese spies is small in comparison with the number of Islamist spies and moles gleefully installed by Obama and ValJar.

Has Trump talked to any Chinese officials in the past 5 years?

Having retired from State, I suspect even a few, one or two, of the departments employees with whom I worked to be agents of other nations. The mere fact one has a TS clearance is ROUTINE for a foreign service officer/specialist and even family member working overseas - TS clearances are equal to a National Security with other agencies. To be employeed in a State Department Officer/Specialist position requires a TS. Dime a dozen.

I miss simpler times when spies were simply shot like they should be. Treason should always be punishable by death by firing squad. It’s not hard to imagine the total hell that awaits a Chinese who spied for us and got caught. Turning coat and going double probably wouldn’t save him, since china is only a peg or two short of north Korea. Instead of strapping him to a missile or hamburgering him with a ZPU, They’ll just beat him and torture him for a couple weeks before smoking him

They must not have been very good spies if they were awarded slippers and a sewing machine.

Shoot her in the face and throw her in a ditch. Death to all engaged in treason.

Read the article! Claiborne writes of hoping “Allah” blesses the person she’s emailing. Seems the spy is a Muzzie!

And I’m sure there’s many more like her.

Our government can’t keep any secrets. It would be comical if it weren’t so sad.

We need a big campaign to oust the career traitors which should involve the death penalty. Letting them off on receiving ‘gifts’ is a joke. She knew she was spying for the Chinese. It’s treason.

She should be tried and then burned alive. Along with hillary.

Nothing like public immolation to discourage treason. Well, almost nothing...

Yes, I know.

Poor old bottom-of-the-rung Candace and company get the charges and pay the price, while perpetually OMG Hillary was/is a prostitute, of decades, at least annually rewarding foreigners with give-a-aways of US intelligence (to China) and 25% of US uranium (to Russia), in exchange for real cash (millions and millions) and not just chump change (Candace & company). OMG Hillary skates and got promotions! Go figure.
