President Trump's funding request for a border wall will likely be put on hold, Senate Republican leaders signaled Tuesday.
Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), a senior member of the Appropriations Committee, announced at a leadership press conference that Trump's supplemental funding request will wait until later in the year.
He said the Senate and House leadership are very close to negotiating a bill to fund government for the rest of 2017.
Adding a supplemental spending bill requested by Trump to pay for military activities and a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border would complicate the talks and should be dealt with at a later date, Blunt added.
"We have the FY17 defense bill," Blunt said, noting it is the top priority of Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and could be used as a vehicle to pass bills funding other federal departments.

I am SO SICK of this @$^/&*!!!!
Correct. It is the hill the Democrats will die on. They HAVE to have more voters in order to get back in power so it is their NUMBER ONE PRIORTIY. Time to make a stand on THIS issue.
Sod off, swampy.
Good thing the Republicans have the majority.
Lol. So true. I dont know what Im going to get from POTUS in these historic battles. But I do know what conservatives will get with Cruz and the kamikaze caucus: nothing.
But... but... but they have their integrity intact!

Too many Rs in swampland play the ruse on us that they are conservative. They are corporatists not conservative. They work for global big business not conservatives. They want our country filled with cheap labor and clueless 3rd world uneducated malleables wanting handouts.
The recent vote in the House taking away privacy on the internet is another example. Our right to privacy is a conservative principle. Big business like Comcast and Verizon and Facebook wants your privacy.
So tell us... how many FReepers are reacting that way?
Are you really calling Trump out for breaking promises on all those issues, 69 days into his Presidency, dealing with uniformly hostile dems and timid GOPers in Congress?
Sorry, I guess you would have been happier if we had not thrown the weasel Eric Cantor out in June of 2014 and stopped Rubio’s amnesty that they planned to pass to clear that issue off the table for Yeb! so there would be no President Trump.
We should just leave the RINOs all in office, right?
Cheap Labor Express Republicans.
If we do not replace them, they will replace us with Spanish speaking people from south of the border.
Hahahaa. HISTORIC majority.
You SAID IT, brother.
Get to know them well... Paint them with their true colors at every opportunity...
>>If I were Trump, Id veto the bill until the Senate coughed up the money.<<

Yes.
He’s going to have to make a stand. Not just walk away from the table.
>>Deport all illegals, criminal or not. Pay for the wall with the savings from not paying for all the benefits they receive.<<
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
How about seizing those cartel warehouses full of cash?
Or take it out of U.N. climate change?
Or slap an immediate tariff on Mexico until they agree to pay?
These GOPe scoundrels WILL NOT GET AWAY with this.
Trump MUST VETO any bill that does not pay for the Wall, and his actual defense buildup too-—not the pork.
