Border wall funding likely to be put on hold

President Trump's funding request for a border wall will likely be put on hold, Senate Republican leaders signaled Tuesday.

Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), a senior member of the Appropriations Committee, announced at a leadership press conference that Trump's supplemental funding request will wait until later in the year.

He said the Senate and House leadership are very close to negotiating a bill to fund government for the rest of 2017.

Adding a supplemental spending bill requested by Trump to pay for military activities and a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border would complicate the talks and should be dealt with at a later date, Blunt added.

"We have the FY17 defense bill," Blunt said, noting it is the top priority of Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and could be used as a vehicle to pass bills funding other federal departments.

If discussing the Border Wall is “too complicated”for Senator Blunt, perhaps he needs to resign from the Senate and seek employment in a “simpler” line of work...

Business as usual for the Republicans — never do today what you can put off until tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow etc

Or do you care to make a evidence-based response to mine? Do you or do you not agree w/ my contention that there is a tremendous, EXTREME knee-jerk instinct upon the most hardcore of supporters to vilify and demonize any and ALL criticism of Trump — no matter HOW true and valid? (Honest question, brother — I was very, VERY happy w/ Trump’s first month or so and would love, love, LOOOOVE to see him succeed. But blind yes-men acting as a Praetorian does absolutely NO favors ... outside of Trump and liberals.)

Almost there. You need more CAPITAL letters so we’ll know you’re serious, and stuff.

Sorry, just realized there wasn’t a question there. I beg, beg, BEG to stop the blind allegiance and call out Trump for all the despicable actions he takes alongside all the praises for all the praises he get for the good parts. In what WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM could ANYONE possibly have w/ the contention to praise leaders for the good and condemn for the bad ... as opposed to blindly praising (and demonizing all else who seek to point out the obvious) the leader. So, the Q: is this SUCH a crazy expectation and request — to NOT just blindly stand by Trump, no matter HOW much he may be enacting liberal policies (and enacting such w/ THE most farthest of far lefts such as Pelosi and Schumer). I am no NeverTrumper who seeks to undermine him at every turn, just an EXTREMELY concerned Republican and citizen. So, again — I ask — is it SO MUCH to ask that Trump supporters call him out on extreeemly liberal legislation — or is it automatically “treason” to call out Trump???

Trump can spend more money on ICE raids and interior enforcement. I have always thought that is best way to clean up the immigration mess.

You are correct and building a wall without doing that will be a waste of money.

It is akin to a bank saying we have a tough safe to crack but if you manage to get into it you can keep the money.

Start a GO Fund Me account. Then in the tax reform, put a line in that allows for 100% deduction of any funds donated to the US Government to fund the wall,

This would raise enough to get things rolling until the President has worked out the Mexican remittance.

Depends on how important you think his reelection in 2020 is.

No wall, no 2nd President Trump.

But, you already knew that.

The Freedom Caucus will probably say that the wall is not high enough and will kill the bill.
